The more I live with my car the more dissapointed I am in how shoddily engineered some aspects of this car are. I'm gradually re-engineering the bits that need it and stage one today was new bonnet hinges. I think the factory supplied hinges for T350's and Tamora's are a joke, and why make life hard when it comes to checking oil or topping up washer fluid.

So I designed these new hinges. At first I was only going to make myself a set but given how well they've turned out I thought maybe I should get a batch made if other people were interested? They use all the original hardpoints except for one extra hole for a bolt drilled about 100mm ahead of the existing pivot bolt, which is hidden under the front apron.

Why on earth didn't TVR make this design from the start?!

OK, but why? The bonnet sits in it's exact original position when closed.

What sort of cost would we be looking at Chris? As well as the opening (or lack of it) I think the finish on the boot/bonnet hinges is pretty nasty and detracts from the rest of the aesthetics of the car.

Not really sure Shep. I'll do some engineering drawings and shop them out for quotes next week. I'd imagine around or less than 100 quid, depending on batch size, material, welded in studs or bolts, surface treatment or stainless etc....

Good idea.... how much much for a pair????

I did a mod on the boot opener, I remade the bracket on the boot lid with the ball offset by 8mm, this make the boot open near vertical making putting the targa in easier.

Great job!

Count me in if these will fit a T350 too.

Yep could be interested. Although I usually just take the bonnet off, however for quick inspection/ oil /water checks this would be ideal.
