Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if all the roof seals are the same on our cars. On the front edge of the taga panel on mine there is an extra 5" or so of rubber seal. The idea being that you feed this down in to the door shut. The only problem is that every time you take the roof of and wiggle it into the boot these seal snag and pull out of the runners in the panel. So every time I put the roof back on I have to pop the rubber back in using my key or a flat head screwdriver.
It's becoming a real pain, I’ve tried gluing the seal into the runners but it will not hold. Are they all like this ? Has anyone found a fix to this problem ?
Cheers,
Nick

All sorted Nick! The seal is a double wall tube, and I made a small nick in the outer wall. At the leading corner of the panel are screws holding the seal carrier. Take these out, glue the seal again (I used lots of superglue) then screw the small screw through the hole you made, through the inner wall of the seal, and into the screw hole into the panel. It holds the seal in the carrier groove nicely, and I've never had any problems since.

Nubbin, thanks, I've just done what you said. At least I think I have? I nearly phoned you to check!
I've screwed through the whole rubber seal and can still see the screw head! The the window glass is still flush with the rubber seal so all looks OK.

Nick, the only Tamora I've seen without the extended rubber seals is Flasher's. But as it's second hand there's no telling what the previous owners may have done!

Cheers..... Andrew

Andrew, if you screw the screws in more, the heads should eventually go through the outer part of the seal, an into the central cavity of the seal. It just stops them showing, and is a tighter fix.

Incidentally, guys, after my faux pas with my hard drive over the weekend, I've lost all your e-mail addresses. Can you all drop me a line, and attach your latest few photos? I'll reply with my new (private road!) top speed...

Don't know about Andrew, flasher, but after the drenching at Chatsworth, mine was bone dry inside. How's your cheap, high mileage motor getting on?

What's this? Gang up on Flasher day???

It's done 7,000 miles now and runs beautifully. No accident damage (unlike yours ) and no leaks since I got it, have your carpets dried out now? When I first met you they were soaked.....

Nice one mate, been pondering this one for ages. Another tip - to make the boot open just that bit wider to get the bleedin' thing in put 10mm spacers behind the two securing bolts - makes it open nearly 1" wider at the top without fouling the rain seals when closed. If only TVR had mounted the bracked 10mm nearer the leading edge it would open wider anyway. You listening factory guys??

Apart from Nubbin's suggestion (best idea) the way to get the rubber seals back in the runner quickly without tools is just to stretch them and pull down into the runner - slips in easily
