I know the handbook says that when starting the engine you may have to give it a little throttle but I have to do this every time. If I then drive off everything's fine but if I stay stationary (or manoeuvre using reverse/forward) the engine will cut out!

Do the rest of you have the same problem?

I'm nearly due for my 6000 mile service so want to know if it's normal before getting the dealer to look at it?

Cheers.... Andrew

Hi, Andrew - mine's been a bit like that for a couple of nmonths now - only on cold starts, and it's lumpy and grumpy, and occassional kangaroo-ing. I think it's just gone off tune a bit. I don't think it's ECU or fuelling problems. I'm waiting for my 6000 mile service to sort it, althiough I am tempted to pop down and se Jools for a quick re-tune...

Don't worry guys, mine has always done this and continues to do so even after the 6,000 mile service.

Once warmed up it's fine , but like you I find it really irritating when I get out to close the garage and the bloody thing cuts out......

Incidently my ECU is about to have another holiday in Blackpool as it is reading too many miles.

Apart from that it's superb and hasn't missed a beat since I got it...

gb61390,
Mine used to be like this, cut out once but always seemed to be on the point of stalling when cold and idling. Dealer increased the idling revs setting at first service and fine now.

flasher,
ECU does not need to go back to Blackpool, dealer can do this fix.

Not according to Paul who designed the electrics on the car... he wants mine back to have a play with it, mine was one of the first so they seem to see mine as a testbed for faults....

The car runs like a clock so I'm not unhappy at a missreading dash.... it just means I will have to play with the wife's new Mercedes convertible while they sort it, it should only take 2 days....

Oh well, if that's what the man said.
When I had this problem the fix was sent out to the dealership and applied by them, apparently this was the first time they had tried this - and it worked a treat. Just didn't want you to be without your toy longer than necessary.

Cheers.

Cheers but I did ask and the bloke at TVR insisted on doing mine in person..... this happened last time it played up and I can only guess it's because my software was one of the first and they want to assess why it's going wrong. But it only takes a day to sort and I have a few other things that they need to look at while it's in. All silly niggly things (door switches etc.) Mechanicly it's the best TVR I've had and it's screwed together better too, but they let themselves down with the fiddly switchgear....
