Picked up my new grigio/anthracite T350c yesterday and have had some great driving since - especially in the hot weather! Done nearly 200 miles and sticking to all the run in rules etc rigidly and can't wait to unleash it after 1000! The car and the drive have lived up to all my expectations and it feels beautifully planted at all speeds.

I have the new NXT speakers combined with the single clarion speaker in the rear which are working well together.

Have had several problems that i'm unsure about but will be speaking to TMS tomorrow to discuss...

I was well prepared for all eventualities with the car on pick up (!) so all the squeaks and rattles haven't bothered me too much although i'll mention them at 1000 mile service.

The Russian guy's asked for my and another car to come back to Blackpool for the 1000 mile service as they were the first cars to go out under his survey (as new quality controller!??!) which was a bonus!

Issues so far that will need dealing with then are:

- Speedo doesn't work (doh!)
- Oil pressure warning at 4 psi?!
- Brake system light (handbrake light) keeps coming on and goes off again if i nudge the handbrake? - hopefullly this is only connected to the handbrake itself and not the actual brakes?!
- Window misaligned on passenger side causing bizarre noise and some scraping on opening/closure?!
- Various squeaks (probably never to be cured but hey!)

Touch wood, no more to follow and be well chuffed.

All in all, well happy, the car couldn't look better, exactly as i spec'ed and exactly as i imagined!!

Any views on the oil pressure warning and/or the brake light thing are much appreciated.

BTW, great service from start to pickup from TMS so well recommended.

Steve:

The handbrake warning light is, I understand, linked to a sensor on the handbrake itself. I had a similar problem that was sorted quickly by an adjustment to the sensor.

Wrt the oil pressure warning, is this on constantly or only when you start her up? I always get an oil pressure warning immediately on startup until the pressure builds up a couple of seconds later.

The additional QA that will justify a 10% price hike seems not to have started yet then.

Any chance of a picture of these? Could be a nice upgrade....

Who makes them? Are they also Clarion? If so I'm sure I could find an alternative source....

www.nxtsound.com/general/home.php put TVR in the search engine and read the 1 article.

Clarion bass speaker in the rear which i have not had the chance to look at yet. Quite strange that they have steered away from pioneer? But bass-wise it is complimenting the NXTs very well.

A few of the faults listed below are ridiculous!!!
You would have thought the speedo, oil pressure and window would have been noticed at the factory and at worst by your dealer.....

Someone send the factory their monthly contact lens subscription as it seems they lost last months....

Er.........they all are - if the factory is making a big thing out of "improved QA"

Sounds as though not much has changed yet! Our Tuscan did not have so many faults when it was delivered four years ago.The brake warnng will just be the handbrake switch that requires adjusting, but the speedo not working & low oil pressure (unless on start-up) is not accetable.

We can't expect perfection overnight. Some of these faults are indeed silly and should have been picked up at PDI though.

Glad you're enjoying the car.

I'd have settled for no faults, as opposed to perfection

I think most of this has been over the top to be honest?!

The car is running brilliantly with no mechanical issues so far and thats what above all i had hoped for. Agree the speedo thing is a bit annoying, but it'll get sorted at the 1000 mile service soon enough -thats what that service is for - to sort out snagging problems. I have not seen one bit of glue on or in the car and reading some of the stories on here i was expecting a lot!

It was no different when i bought a £300k flat so why should it be when you buy a hand built car?! My house went through rigorous "quality checks" by the highly reputable developer but still there were snags that got sorted quickly.

Not being funny, but if i buy a TVR and the only problems i have pre 1000 miles are a faulty speed sensor, faulty handbrake sensor and a window misalignment i will be very happy!!

Are we not all getting a bit bogged down in small snags that, at the end of the day should be sorted at 1000 mile easily enough? You may all be speaking tainted from past problems when you purchased, but in my eyes i am 99.9% happy with the car.

Does it not seem that should TVR develop to a point that these quirks were unheard of, we would lose something in the soul of these cars that we all crave and love them for? I went into ownership with my eyes very much open, and still i would not swap this car for any "perfect" german crap that has no life to it.

BTW, re the PDI and the speedo, it works until you hit 70 and then it is dead for the rest of the journey no matter what speed you are doing, so i would imagine they missed it due to that. The dealer says its an easy fix at 1000 miles.

Cannot comment re the oil pressure as i am no mechanic! But it can drop quite low while driving...

I agree with your sentiments re a few niggles being all part of the "TVR experience" but a low oil pressure while driving would not be one of those. Your comments suggests something other than an "on or off" dicky sensor connection. OK, it's covered by Warranty but adequate oil pressure in a high performance engine is pretty fundamental to longer term satisfactory operation. I'm sure your dealer would want to check this out now rather than at 1000 miles.

Great colour choice BTW.

Steve, gald you're hapy with the car. As for your comment, much of what I have posted is a tongue in cheek pop at the new quality focus at the factory.

The 1000 mile service is for changing the oil.

It's not unheard of for the oil pressure sensors to do this - they'll just fit another one that works - and the speedo sensor is a fault in the current design of the part. I don't think the factory has released any sensors with a fix yet but I've heard that they are on the case. Just don't be surprised if they don't have one available yet at your 1000 mile service.

Cheers,

Andy.

Nice on Steve - sounds great.

I've got the handbrake warning light thing too, my car at the dealers at the moment having that fixed along with other various niggles, as well as air-con being fitted.

Dealer says a/c hasn't been retro-fitted to a Tam before, so unsurprisingly TVR haven't sent them all the parts they need, am now having to wait for them to send one final part! Be interested to see if it then all works.

Alex, if you could have the S2000 back and the extra money you paid for the Tam, would you?
Or would you stick with the Tam.?

I certainly wouldn't swap mine back. I would consider buying a new S2000 again in the future, but certainly not an old model like i had.

Only now do i realise how poor the handling actually was. This thing sticks to the road beautifully and rides every bump in a way i never imagined. The bump steer on my S2000 was shocking, although i think it has put me in good sted for this car, as i am wary of things like that automatically now.

The steering on my T350 is so direct in comparison to the S, i now wonder how i dealt with it for long!

I'm interested to see what Alex has to say actually.....you been to any S2ki meets in your tam?!
