I have just been on ACT's website and I see they do a Tam Sports exhaust for £325 inc Vat, which seems reasonable.
After following Mongoose's Tuscan on Sunday, and hearing the pops and bangs from that exhaust, mine sounds positively asthmatic in comparison!
Is the £325 worth it, will I be able to hear the difference (especially on over run), and do they really give 10-15BHP more??

Cheers

Chris

Not sure about the extra bhp, but the noise is much better - I've got one fitted, (well, the car has ) and it's well worth the cash. Go for it!

Mmm, I was gutted too, wouldn't fit my Tam either! I'm very tempted to extract some more out of the rapidly diminishing savings account and take the plunge.... If you get yours first, let me know what you think please?!

Chris - what is the ACT website address? That sounds pretty reasonable price - is it stainless steel?

EDIT - found it, and yes they are ss!

Chan said I could have one for my birthday (on the proviso I don't spend any more on the Tam in the meantime!)
Luckily, the stainless steel steering wheel nuts that came yesterday didn't count! phew

LOL,, Birthday's in November, but I may pre-empt her by ordering early, in case they run out of stainless steel in the meantime

Yes, I looked at your Tam also very nice, sometimes I wonder if the smaller wheels are better, as there seems to be very little tyre wall with the 18" tyres and wheels, very bumpy at times, which is why I asked about Nitrons. Did you buy your's from new Ellis?

No, only had it a few weeks. Said I was never gonna have another expensive car again, but then this one came up cheap on ebay......

Over the moon with it, best TVR I've owned/driven. Handling is sublime. The press say they're better on the 16's but I haven't driven one on bigger wheels so can't compare. Must say I don't want for much on the handling side and it's hard to imagine it being much better. Compared to other cars I own/owned though - my old Cossie with about £7k of handling kit is crap in comparison (and not a hell of a lot quicker really). My old E46 M3 would struggle. In the dry the Esprit V8 may have just had the edge but in the wet I'd leave it at home and walk, but in the Tam I feel fairly relaxed in the wet. The only car that had a real edge was the Lotus 340R, but that was slow...! (Although about the same power to weight as the Tam)

They do look pretty with the bigger wheels though!

Ah, I remember the thread about your Tam now, good price . You've definately had some pretty decent cars in the past too!
the Chim 450 I had before the Tam really does not compare regarding the speed and handling, but yet, I have become so 'obsessed'(quite scary really, especially for Mrs Watton!lol) with my Tam that I can't stop spending money (I havent really got!) on it!
I want the sports exhaust and definately taking it in for a front end respray (including getting the black trim on the bonnet colour coded) early next year, but I would love one of TVR Power's 'upgrades', but a new kitchen has to come into the equation at some point too, but that doesn't really get me going like the Tam does! lol

Saw a Tuscan pootling down West St in Brighton yesterday afternoon at low speed, and the amount of pops and bangs from that were ridiculous!

Chris - have you heard a Tam with this sports exhaust? I can't imagine it would transform it into the same sound as the Tuscan? Be very intrested to hear your car once you get it.

I have the ACT exhaust, and trust me, it pops and bangs like a good 'un once the engine warms up - you'll find yourself dropping into 2nd. in town traffic, and constantly leaving gaps ahead into which to accelerate, just to get the overrun percussion!! lol

Chris, I am considering having further alterations to my exhaust, by an excellent local exhaust maker in Sheffield - which means my ACT exhaust would be surplus to requirements Would you be interested - Mrs. Chris would be pleased with a lesser expense, I imagine?
