Good morning.

I've been hankering after a Trevor, perticularily a Tamora for about 6 months now, never willing to part with the dosh!

I like the Red Tamora at Heneley TVR, they've made me a good offer for my 3 series BMW - very very tempted.

Is this car an ex-pistonheaders? Can anyone tell me the history behind it's 12,000 miles?

Thanks very much in advance.

James.

The very same!

Yes, I really like the Interior, and was very comfortable to sit in.

(I'm a 6`2" rugby player, and found a diff tamora pretty uncomfortable)

So far over this one.

Is this a good price?

I notice it hasn't had the 2003 slight face lift with the new front fog lights so maybe was built late 2002 and not registered until 2003?

I would be looking to pay more like £27K from a dealer for a car with 12K miles on. Take a look at the classifieds and you might see private Tamora sales for the same car for as low as £25K.

Not sure who does breakdown warranties now that WHA have gone bust, but make sure you get yourself a 2 year warranty thrown in.

Does anyone have a before & after picture for the fog lights? I can't picture it.

Here's the revised look:
www.winisp.net/don1/tamora/NewTamora.jpg

And this one in the classifieds (picked at random) is the original:
www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=28219&s=140

Both are 52 reg, not sure exactly when the change came in but it was before Dec '02.

Either way, you won't regret it. The Tamora's a stunning car which for me is the ideal compromise between a good open top grand-tourer (which it is) and a chuckable track day car (which it also is). Just got back from 3 days and approx 1200 miles in France and it never missed a beat.

That red Tam you are after was the very one I test drove at Henley in May/June before deciding I MUST have a Tam! It was fantastic to drive, quite smooth (for a Tam) and it pulled very well. The only thing that put me off a bit was that it had 3 previous owners. But it had a good spec with air-con and 18" spiders. Louise at Henley was very helpful and Richard, the service manager, is also very helpful. Good luck!

I've been looking around thinking about a warranty for my recent purchase. Found a company called Warranty Wise, www.warrantywise.co.uk who are prepared to cover my Tamora, underwritten by AXA. Including key protection and Main Dealer Labour they've quoted as follows; £611.25 for 6 months, £818.45 for 12 months, £1315.70 for 24 months. The limit per repair claim is £6,000 which should cover an engine (just?!). Annual limit is the value of the vehicle, unlimited mileage. This is not a recommendation, I really haven't had a chance to read all the small print yet, but it's what I've found so far. Don't know if this is good value or not, bear in mind my car has done 28,000 miles and I assume this quote reflects that. Anyone want to comment on value for money.......?!

The modified Tamora shape was launched at the 2002 Motorshow in October 2002.

I'd have a look at Private Warranty first - £495 for full cover for 12 months, claim limit is the value of the car - excellent cover at an amazing price!

I may be wrong but I think that car was owned by two people on PH before. I think they had genuine reasons for sellng it, neither of them related to the car.

I knew it was a gamble when I bought it, 28k seems to be about the highest mileage Tam around? But I think it was prob the cheapest too. The engine number doesn't seem to match, so I guess it's been changed at some stage, which I was kinda hoping was a good thing! My first Chimp (4.3) was 36k miles when I bought it and I had 12k trouble free miles out of it, I always thought that at that mileage, most of the problems would've been resolved! Anyway, I traded it for a nearly new 5.0l Chimp, and I had trouble with it.... Also, I feel a little that when a car is new or nealy new, you really expect it to be pretty much perfect, when it's a few years old and got a few miles on it, you accept the imperfections. Anyway, all good so far....!

It wouldn't worry me; people who buy cars at this sort of price tend to change their cars a lot. Once a car has had two owners it doesn't make much difference anyway, sure one owner cars are the best bet, and it’s more likely to be looked after (no guarantee) .Two, three or four owners I don't think it makes much difference really once past the first owner stage.

Silverstone TVR have a couple of seriously nice Tamora's last time I was in. Would be worth having a chat with them.

Cheers
