Hello everyone..... been reading the forum for a few weeks, thanks for the excellent information/advise. I now have a tough decision to make on my next car, although the Tamora is up against the usual suspect - its currently in the number one position. I have been delaying the test drive - I know I'll want to take it home with me instantly.... My main question is how many people on this forum use their Tamora/T350 as their main every day car and what is the average monthly mileage? I have numerous other questions many of which I'm sure you have seen before - I have seen a 03 Tamora with 12k miles at £29k with 18", Air Con and full leather - is this reasonable? I will not go down the reliability route - especially as there seems to be many many happy customers out there...enough said. If anyone has any suggestions/comments/ideas when buying a (used) Tamora then more than happy to hear them - especially on warranty, service intervals, best insurance, best TVR dealer - anything I should watch out for... once again thanks in advance.

Hi Jasper, yes, that price for that Tam does sound reasonable, you may be able to knock that down a bit furthur, but I would have personally gone for it.
I drive my Tam to work every day (30 mile round trip) without any problems whatsoever, although I am getting my throttle pots changed, which is costing next to nothing really (less than £100) Servicing isn't as bad as what you first may think for such a car, (when I bought mine, I had a 12K service, including checking the tappets and 2 new rear tyres all for well under 1K)
I have had a few minor niggles, (most have), but, and this is the important bit, I would not change my Tam for anything else now, I honestly can't think of another car I'd rather have if money were no obsticle

Chris, thanks. Noticed reading through the forum that you have had two - what made you decide to get a new one? Do you think it is better to buy when the car has done 12k+ miles by which time the issues seem to usually have been fixed - what did you decide. Also tempted to ensure it has a warranty - does anyone know if a dealer gives it additonal warranty, can the work be carried out by any dealership (doubt it)? One final thought - it looks like the TVR dealers buy them relatively cheap from private sellers add about £4k-5k and sell them back !! I suppose that is the car market in general..

Hi Jasp , I did have a Chimaera 450 before the Tam, and loved it. However, I wanted more of a drivers car, which, from all the reports in tabloid and on here the Tam is.
I bought my Tam 'semi private', ie; not a dealer but an internet new car company who happened to have the Tam as the last owner part exed it for an M5 due to a change in job.
I did get it quite cheap for the spec (at the time about 2-3K cheaper than the dealers) The money I saved on that allowed me to purchase my own warranty, a 'proper' 12K sevice and a few other goodies to get it how I wanted it. I did take a chance however, and thus far, it has paid off, I have loved the car, much more so than the Chim, and to be honest, you can't go far wrong with the classifides on PH, most of the guys selling have looked after their cars. (My chim was sold on PH classifides too!)

Chris, thanks for the information - interested to know how you purchased your own warranty? Who was this through? What are the service intervals? Also you hint at a 'proper' service - is there any other?

I bought my 12 month warranty online (Auto Protect, Premier Plus) for £395.(haven't had to use it yet though!) The service intervals, like all other performance cars with highly strung engines is every 6 months or 6000 miles. I hint at 'proper' service because if you buy from a dealer, you're never sure if it was given the full treatment, (ie; was the oil changed and not a lot else!), plus I could point out what I may think needs attention, again, hints I've picked up from reading these forums.

Hi Jasper, welcome to PH.

We have just sold our T350c but we had it from new one of the first off the production line. It was used as a daily driver, doing about a 25 mile round trip, also did over 2000 miles on a weeks holiday in Europe. Not put a foot wrong in the 17 months we had it

We traded it in the end to Chris Neils, where it will be for sale shortly.

The sale wasn't forced to make way for a nursery It was for something a little cheaper to run. We pick up an Elise 111R mid September.

Chris, thanks again - not familiar with (Auto Protect, Premier Plus)do you have anymore details/web site - sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Excuse the ignorance - but are they also involved in the service? (too long with company cars !!). Also be interested if anyone has any views on the best recovery service (with temporary replacement car), again important for me due to work etc. thanks again.

Got my new Tamora in June 2004. I live in central London and drive my Tammy to work every day. I also try to take her for a proper drive on the weekend. I am just coming up to the 1,000 mile stage. Personally, on a day to day basis, I absulutely love this car! Of course I haven't covered enough miles yet to give a more objective view but, so far, I couldn't be happier with it.

Maddog, where did you take yours for the 1,000 mile service? Were you happy with the service? Was it reasonably priced?

Bought my Tam mid July as a second car, 1000 mile service 7/8/04, way too much fun to be a second car.

Doing approx 500 miles a week car just keeps on growing on you and seems to become easier to drive.

www.privatevehiclewarranty.co.uk/
That's the URL to the warranty company website
The services are down to you, a warranty only covers you if there is mechanical/electrical failier, but it at least gives piece of mind This does include recovery, but I also have breakdown assistance with my insurance company (Privilege)
Hope that helps
