I'm fitting some new tweeters which requires access to the back of the stereo head unit. The head unit only slides out a couple of inches before hitting the top of the curved leather section which covers the gearbox and handbrake. This needs to come off as I'm pretty sure I'll damage it if I try to slide the head unit over it.

I've got the rear unhooked and the two velcro strips on the sides are OK, but there seems to be some other fixing at the front next to the gear lever holding it down and I can't see how this is released... anyone know how to get this off?

Take the ashtray out (if you've actually had one fitted!), feel inside the hole, and there's a butterfly nut, which will release the front of the trim - but it might be worth tightening it first, to see if it pulls the trim down far enough to get the stereo out. Getting the gear lever gaiter off is a real pain, so try lifting the trim panel up and juggling the stereo out.

Try to realign the stereo in the dash so you don't have to mess about like this again!

Good luck!

nubbin, you seem to know all the fixes

Did you sell your first tamora then buy another one?

I'm not sure "sell" was the word to describe it
