Now I understand the is a plug hanging down so that I can use a connector to charge the battery with. Do I need to go to a dealer to buy this or are they available on Ebay?

Also, do they respond well to bump starting?

Does the T350 have an Anderson connector on the battery as well, or just the Sagaris?

I believe all the Tuscans, T350s, Tams and Sags had the connector.

Yep, they all have one as far as I know.
There's a good chance it will be badly corroded and will need replacing, and may be of no use to help you re-charge until replaced, in which case it's wheel off to access battery hidden in the box behind the front nearside wheel.

If its badly corroded, get it replaced asap.

After the report from a few years ago of a sag(?) spontaneously going whoosh and taking a good chunk of TVR power with it, replacing the Anderson connectors with SH more robust one was something top of my list.

Good idea to do ASAP if needed.

I went for the option of disconnecting it completely on my Tuscan and it now has a CTECK charger lead, it has been fine.

You can condition your battery through the cig lighter.

So, the story as it stands now, the Sag is completely flat/dead. I tried to show my son's friend the car last week, but the battery only had enough charge to turn the alarm off, but not enough power to open the door. I was also unable to re-alarm the car, and it was making a strange ticking noize?

Yesterday I had my Ctek charger/conditioner arrive, and last night I connected it to the car via the cigarette lighter socket. Now, 24 hours later.. it is still totally dead!??

Any ideas?

Battery conditioners don't work so well on a dead battery.

Get a heavy duty battery installed plus fit a battery brain gold (needs to be the gold one from memory). Should sort the issue out.

Never used the battery brain myself - yet. Will be looking into installing it this year.

It may also be worth note that if the battery goes flat and needs recharge you may need to disconnect it to reset the immobiliser as I did get caught out on this with mine when it happened a few years ago. When powered up but wouldn't start.

Battery conditioner will not be able to charge up a fully discharged battery, good chance battery is beyond reviving anyway. If you have a set of the anderson leads connect a standard battery charger to those and it may recover enough. Best bet is to buy and fit a new battery and then keep it topped up using your battery conditioner.

I have had a quick look through the owners handbook, but it doesn't tell me how to remove the battery or how/where to jack the car?

Rodney, according to Grahams Sagaris Handbook (very worthwhile getting hold of a copy) jacking point for nearside is the bolt on the angled tube just behind the battery box. Once on the jack remove wheel and at rear of wheel arch you will see a cover with 2 bolts, remove cover and battery is right behind, should be held in place by 2 clamps which are bolted through the chassis. Whilst doing this do not leave keys in car as it will usually lock itself once new battery is fitted, best to leave doors open and windows down if possible. Usual battery change process of removing negative first then positive and the reverse on installation (not meaning to teach you to suck eggs as they say if that seems obvious) hope that helps.

Just to let you know, I eventually bit the bullet and removed the front wheel to charge the battery. Sinse then the CTEK charger/conditioner has kept it maintained.

If anybody else is also thinking of buying one of these, I only bought the cheap MSX 3.6..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CTEK-Multi-MXS-3-6-12V-B...

And used this to connect it through the cigarette lighter socket.

Thanks for everybodys help!smile

Yes, I have this exact problem on my Sagaris right now, having suffered a completely flat battery. Having tried pulling the Immobiliser fuses, Fuel Pumps fuse, and Fuel Pumps relay it hasn't reset the immobiliser (which is showing a solid red LED rather than flashing), so I'm just about to go back outside now and disconnect the main battery as per the procedure on this thread (which google helpfully found for me).

What a palaver! On the Chimaera, the battery was in the same place but behind a false panel in the passenger footwell - far easier to access.
