I have recently purchsaed a Tamora in Chameleon blue and now thinking about putting on Amourfend to stop the front end being damaged by stone chips.

Has any other owners had Amourfend fitted? and if so how noticable is it on the car?.

Just done the first 1000 in two weeks now in for service.

Some people swear by it, others swear at it!

I've got it on my current car, and had it on my previous Griff, and I think it's great.

I think it does depend on the colour of the car though - some colours seem to hide it better than others. Are there any TVR meets in your area? If so, I'd recommend going along and having a look at some cars with it fitted and without to see if you can live with the look of it.

As the previous poster says, some swear by it, some swear at it, and I agree re:the colour. It is not a case of better with dark or light colours, I have noticed that on some cars (not just TVRs) armourfend looks great and on others it looks awful. Chameleon could be a tough call, how will the armourfend affect your paint job in the sunlight ? Ideally you can find someone on here to comment.

I do not have it, and I do have an increasing no of stone chips (in the front corners). Should I have got it ? I am really not sure, but a respray of the area is about the same as the cost of armourfend.

I thought about it. Ironically the only two tiny lacquer chips are way above where armourfend would have gone. Therefore for now I dont regret it! Ask me in 12000 miles!

I had it on my first Tamora - the colour (light blue) was unaffected, but heavy stones still chipped right through the Armourfend, damaging both the plastic and the paint underneath.

Also, I had a couple of indelible stains develop, from dead insect juice - that wouldn't have been a problem on a darker car.

All in all I'd say it is a very good product for a darker coloured car.

Gents

Many thanks for all of your replies, as it appears that the colour of the car may make it more noticable or not I will just order some of the smaller low cost pieces (i.e. the easy to fit yourself items) and see how it looks.

The Chamealeon paint is nearly £100 a litre so Armourfend would be more cost effective.

The outcome is removal, respray and a full refund.

Greetings Shifty. I have it on my metallic, dark green, Cerbera and to be quite honest I would not bother. You will soon get fed up with the 'oh it's scratched' comments but what do they know! When you polish your car it will take an extra 15mins to run your cloth-clad fingernail all around the edge to get rid of the white line it causes. More importantly it does not stop stone chips over the rest of your bonnet. I have got many, many chips behind the armourfend and it seems a complete waste of money (the chap before paid for it) as the front end still needs a complete respray. I am sure it will delay the inevitable but I have a huge chunck of fibreglass missing about 12" behind the end of the armourfend. Great value eh?
