Hi,
Can anyone tell me what's in the RAS (Relay And Splice) unit fitted to Tams/Sags and possibly others ?
Does anyone have a diagram ?
I'm going to take mine apart and create a schematic anyway but it'd save a bit of time if someone already has a drawing.

Thanks

Hello Paul,

here's a picture of the inside of my spare RAS, it consists mainly of relais and some power transistors:

Thanks for posting the image.

As there doesn't seem to be anything complex in there I will take mine out at the weekend and fix it.

Hi Oliver,

The windscreen washer doesn't work and it doesn't trigger the wipers when I press the button on the end of the wiper stalk.
Everything worked OK until I used the washer, first it worked then it didn't and there was a burning smell from the RAS unit.
Swapping the RAS fixes the problem. This is the second time this has happened.
I've obviously got a problem elsewhere which is killing the RAS but it's intermittent as it works OK most of the time so I'm not sure where.
When I find out whats been destroyed in the RAS I'll try and work out what's killing it.

Does the RAS unit control all the wiper functions?

I have a long term fault with my wipers not parking, and I only have the one wiper speed, I will have to investigate.

EvoOlli, if you do find time to generate a schematic of the T series loom it would be much appreciated by allot of people around here. I don’t think anyone has that information.

Hello Sam,

yes, it's a project I started. I have found the main and the engine loom and I have all the ECUs and switches as spare parts. I'm missing only some little parts and the front and rear loom.
But with the parts and my car I'm able to build a layout and connection diagramm. I want to do it out of curiosity and to have a good documentation if something fails.
But as you can imagine, it's a time consuming work and will take a long time, but I think I will manage it....when I'm finished it could make a good addendum to the orange bible ;-)

What about the wiper park switch? or what about a new stalk, they are from the Ford parts bin, can't remember which but its easy to change I did mine about 3 yrs ago.

Yes the park switch was my initial thought, but the later T-cars don’t have a park switch as such. The wiper motor has a kind of timing disc built into the gearbox.

I have replaced the wiper motor, the wash/wipe relay, and the wiper stalk – still no good. I would like to find out what the RAS unit controls.

Hi gents, I was wondering if there is more info about this RAS module available. I'm having issues with my airco and I was told it's triggered from the RAS as well. But I would like to know which relais is responsible for it. Does anyone have more details? Thank you very much.
