decision time Tamora or not?
Discussion
well after much deliberation I've finally decided to pull the trigger and get myself a new car. It just isn'y going to be a Tamora, I just don't see myself in one of them and to be honest after reading about "inevitible" water leaks etc etc , I'm ditching my chimaera and getting a Jap supercar... Mitsubishi EVO 6 is the one for me.... don't think you guys could ever catch me in that one!!
quote:Jenny - a disasterous mistake which you will regret. Will we catch you in your EvoSticks? Who knows, who really cares? Yesterday I had to drive 70 miles to Havant on the South Coast for an early meeting, as it was bright I decided to take the Griff' instead of the Volvo. The drive there and back just confirmed to me why owning a beautiful looking, powerfull sports car is the absolute pinacle of motoring on the road. Good luck to you, but you will be bored with it after a few weeks - yI predict ou'll be worrying about which CD's to have in the car next.

Rich...
well...tin pot jap motor it may be to you guys but hey let's face things ... I'm never going to have to suffer the indignity and frustration of always breaking down again and never knowing if it's going to start or what the next bill is going to be... just a little sick of always opening up my wallet and watching my hard earned wedge fly out ....
FYI,
Interesting read about the EVO in this weeks Auto Car, the guy lists some costs such as £300 service every 4500 miles, he had to get a new clutch for £1000 and brake discs and pads alround and some other stuff for £1500 all in the space of 6 months...
Nice cars are never cheap, I would rather have a faster british one than a slower Jap one.

Jenny, I haven't replied to your posts before but your last one has pissed me off!
OK, so some people have been vocal about your choice of getting an Evo but that's no reason to slag the Tamora off for being unreliable! None of us Tamora drivers have experienced a break down!
Just get the Evo and start posting on their forum. Goodbye.
Cheers.... Andrew

Easy guys, it's her choice. Jenny, my Tamora will easily keep up with an EVO, and will look a whole lot better. It won't get stolen, scratched, abused, and I will continue to get kids shouting "nice car!" at me, people will wave, flash their lights, and acknowledge a great English marque. The EVO, as I'm sure you know, will have a harsh ride, nasty plastic interior, a stupid Max Power wing, and score zero for style. Your driving experience will be tooth-loosening, and so on-off terrifying or slow. Worst of all, you can't take the roof off. Enjoy it, because it's your choice and I sincerely hope it will give you the same sense of fun and enjoyment I get from my Tamora. Race ya!!

To all you Tamora owners:
There's an awfull lot of other great cars out there for us all to enjoy. As they say varieties the spice of life. I've had 3 TVRs now and have decided to try something else, as has Jenny.
Just give Jenny a break , it's her choice and she doesn't deserve all your biased views and insults. For some people TVRs are great cars but by no means the only choice.
Remember, we at PistonHeads all have a common interested in sporting cars (with the possible exception of Burnemup and his Nova)
Mike.

nevertheless, you're gonna hate find the evo so dull compared to any TVR. I've owned/driven a few of these jap 4wd rally/road rockets. They're incredibly fast but so forgiving, and thats what makes them dull. There's just no challenge / reward for getting it right. Wont break down though....
I would imagine that the insurance on the EVO is going to be a lot more as well. Have been told that Sunninghill insurance discount TVR's down to group 16 (Royal Sun Alliance). So what you gain in serice costs you through away in insurance bills. I looked to change (briefly) and even a slow BMW 330ci was £300 more to insure.

Nothing biased in saying that a Subaru EVO lacks interest, its a fact. Rich...
What total cobblers. I swapped my Griff for a Subaru and haven't looked back. Like Jenny I found the Griff to be unreliable to the point where I didn't dare drive it because something else would go wrong that would cost me another £1000.
I adore the Subaru and i think its driving experience is unparalleled with anything I have driven before. Its looks and not being able to take the roof off let it down, but for a spirited drive I'd take the Subaru over the Griff every time.
That said, I haven't driven the Tamora and I think if I was in the market for a new car I would want to drive one before making any decisions. When i saw one in the flesh at Silverstone it looked gorgeous.
