Saw three very nice Tamoras in the weekend and now trying to decide between two. I'm trying not to describe too accurately as the owners are on PH and I don't want to prejudice anyone who might read this thread later. No speculation please as to who the owners might be.

In the blue corner we have:
02 reg plate
6 months warranty
14000 miles
3 owners
Full leather (I think - forgot to ask)
Close ratio gearbox.
Air Con
Options to a total new value of around £7k.
Tyres half-worn
Condensation patch behind binnacle and whitening of screen surround is starting. 1" stress line over one wheel arch, otherwise good condition.
Had a lot of 'issues' early on of the type well documented in these forums, now seems sorted though.

And in the red corner:
52 reg plate, 'facelift' model
18 months warranty
20000 miles
One owner
Half leather
Normal gearbox
No air con
Bluetooth and DAB tuner
Tyres new on rear, half worn fronts.
Normal stone chips and good (though not immaculate) general condition
Relatively problem free from new - no returns to dealer for anything that couldn't be attended to during regular servicing.

I haven't listed everything about them, just what I perceive as the significant differences between these two. Assuming the same price, which one would you go for and why? I need to decide in the next couple of days and feel I could do with some PH wisdom at this testing time... Help!

2nd one ... extra 12 months warranty for a start. Secondly the binnacle condensation means the windscreen needs taking out and resealing. Despite the total rubbish spouted by dealers and the like it's the only way to fix it and it isn't unnavoidable because of the proximity of the binnacle. Wouldn't want "stress cracks" on a two year old car, and the extra mileage on the 2nd one won't mean didly. Tyres are £220 each on the back. I guess the aircon is up to you, but taking the roof off was always a better option and I certainly never got too hot in the winter!

OK, so I decided on option 2. Tough choice to compare two very different but both top notch cars. I really fancied the CR gearbox and aircon on the other, but 18 months of dealer warranty and a Dec '02 registration won the day.

Collected the new toy tonight and chased m'lady in her VX220 through the camera-free roundabouts of Milton Keynes on the way home. What a hoot! After the Griff it feels so communicative and chuckable. Although I'll miss the beasting torque of the Griff I can see myself having a lot of fun in the twisties with this chariot.

In the lats few hours I've renewed my TVRCC membership, ordered a bunch of Meguiars product... it's only been a few months since the Griff went, but its real nice to come back to TVRs

Welcome to the exclusive Tamora owners club! Its great to see people progressing! Also interesting to hear your views on trading up / down (depending on views). I am completly puzzled why they are so unpopular!

Yes, welcome Dan I agree with Dan, however, Tams are quite exclusive (counted 4 at Pistonfest!)but even Tuscans seemed to outnumber the Griffs and Chims! I think everyone has bought the Tusc over the Tamora because of looks alone (except for mongoose ), and people dont realise how good a drive the Tam is!
The only prob I have now is that I love it so much I want to lavish more money than I can afford at it!, anyone else have this prob?? lol

A TVR without any problems, I think I'd rather have the problems sorted.
I'm not sure which car I'd go for, but the 20k mileage would put me off, and what about when you try and sell the thing. Will it have 30K on the clock by then? Of course if you’re planning to keeping the car for a long time the mileage isn't so important.
