on the 3.6 sp6 engine, whats the red line, i have checked the manual and it is not mentioned, I only ask as the difference between the new engines and the old are that the new one are so smooth you cant tell your getting to 7k were as in my tuscans as soon as you reached 6k, you felt it!

I seem to remember being told 7800 (or very similar?!)
I beleve it does go slightly higher, but useable power drops off very quickly after this point.. ?

Still running mine in so I haven't tried her out properly yet. However, I recall the dealer (or someone) telling me the speed6 produces maximum BHP at 7,200rpm

thats correct, Ive set my shift lights at 6.5k/6.7k/6.9k This allowing the reaction time from seeing the red light to shifting to reach approx 7.2k *especially in 1st and 2nd

Maybees I'm just dumb, but I thought you want to change up to keep in the highest torque rev range?

yeah, but reving your engine that little bit more each time may add to problems later on, anyway, still quick enough like this, and the gain is minimal unless your racing.

(shift lights at 6.5k/6.7k/6.9k meaning setting the lights at these rpms 6.5k green/6.7k orange/6.9k red)

James here:

Whats the red line.....

Well it's a line that's red..

(going now)

The std speed 6 doesn't produce anymore worthwhile torque above 7500 I think the limiter is about 7750ish. You really ought to change up before then though. Red rose add 250rpm.

Yep, my rev limiter kicks in about 7.7 or 7.8 though at that point I'm too scared to take my eyes off the road to take a more accurate reading I'm afraid!
