I know they supply one for the Tamora at this place for in the region of £300-400:

www.actproducts.co.uk

and seem to be quite highly spoken of.

Seriously though - is the car not loud enough already? I've thought about putting one on but I already get enough complaints from people about how loud it is!

Thinking of getting one also.
Heard Tamora sports exhaust from ACT on Sunday and sounded great, but thinking of trying "Blue Flame" find it via TVR links on Pistonheads. Heard their version on Tuscan S and also sounded great.
I do think T350 noise is good but would like to compete with the V8's.
Please let me know what you do and price. I will also keep you informed.

James here:

There are two types of systems on the market;

1)A replacement of the rear box with two bomb type ipes and large tail pipes, ACT and others make these. They are quite/very loud and do sound good. They are for me a bit too loud for daily use and track days.

2)A replacement system which is identical from the origional and made by the same manufacturer and just changes the tone to be deeper and reduces the boominss from normal. I will be driving one soon. Currently this I deleive is only availiable from Tony at Hexham Horesless Carriages.

On a side note although not legal decatting gives about 25bhp on a speed six and a crisper throttle response....just a thought.

James

Hope that helps

25bhp!!!
I thought Red rose only gave another 25bhp!
That is definately something to think about.
When I decatted my elise the sports exhaust sounded awesome and it was definately quicker!
But when you get it serviced they put it back on and charge you for it!!
So decat? or new exhaust? or be happy with what you've got?
25 bhp! are you sure?

James-Are you sure? Deatting usually doesn't gain a great deal on the V8's. This does seem alot for the speed 6

I personnally am just relating what has been said first hand from an owner which decatted. This was with the less obvious sports exhaust and did give him 25bhp on a dyno. The throttle response was alot better. The sportsa exhaust was similar to the red rosr T350c and it had a ligtneded fly wheel so the overall gains maybe slightly specific to that car.

I'm due to be driving a sports exhaust only car soon so I'll be able to say how they drive with no other mods.

So decatt alone may not be 25bhp on it's own.

afraid to say that decatting an elise really won't make that much difference to be noticeable - I'd be AMAZED if you could really pick a decatted elise over a standard one in performance alone- maybe in terms of noise - but not performance. You're looking at 2-3 bhp PEAK power with a decatted liz.

We own the car I think James is reffering too. The decat certainly makes a big difference, the sports exhaust reduces the boom and makes the car a more pleasant drive at the lower revs. Just to avoid any confusion, our car has not been dyno'd - a figure of a 20 BHP increase is one that was muted from the factory. To attempt to look through the cats, its not difficult to believe they can provide at least this much of a restiction.

Car was no problem at Zolder last weekend with 94 Db drive past (measured 104.5 at 1 meter -4500rpm)........just need a brake upgrade and some decent tyres now.

This is the exhaust. They also sell the decat pipes. Dunno about fitting though. If its just the exhaust, its supposed to be pretty easy to do yourself (indeed, having had one of the hangers snap on my exhaust I can confirm that its at least very easy to remove, so putting a new one back on shouldn't be too much trouble).

Just get your dealer to fit it - shouldn't be more than an hour's work. Which will either be about a grand or 50 pence, depending where you are in the UK

Edited to say : I didn't intend to suggest that you fit your own decat pipes, just the exhaust!

Just been through the "which exhaust" investigation myself, and the new zorst arrived this morning - hope to fit it tonight.

I looked at quite a few options, the most interesting from TVR Power:

> Sports rear silencer, std bore.
> Sports rear silencer, large bore.
> Separate silencers, large bore.
> any of the above with De-cat and re-chip.

Dominic explained that the large bore, de-cat and re-chip is worth about 15bhp. De-cat helps throttle response and removes boominess but has little effect on power. TVR Power's stuff retains TVR Warranty.

None of the above are likely to pass track-day noise regs.

Work done by Hexham Horesless Carriages. Cost for the decat pipes about £180, fitting I'm not sure.
