Filled her right up, drove for 35 miles (nearly within the speed limit) but brought her home warm and parked.

20 minutes later, neighbour comes round to tell me 'your car's leaking petrol all over the road' - which it was.

Petrol dripping from the left rear arch, stopped when I opened the filler. Gatwick TVR to the rescue (thanks Paul!) - they rhink it's just overflow of fuel that has expanded into the overflow. Any other perspectives/experiences?

Seems a bit odd this happening after driving for 35 miles post fillup. Obviously these cars like to embarrass themselves at the petrol station by doing this. Maybe something is blocked in the fuel breather system? Perhaps you just need to drive faster and use more fuel

Car was filled cold, then warmed up to around 90C, so the fuel expanded up the filler neck i think...

If you overfill and petrol gets trapped at the top of the filler neck as you close the filler cap, it is very effectively isolated from the main tank. If then open the filler cap after a drive then said trapped petrol spurts everywhere. If yours leaked without loosening the cap then the seal that the filler cap makes is not completely sound or the filler cap was not 100% closed.
