Noticed for the first time today, when setting off slowly in first gear if the revs were just a little on the low side, not quite cutting out, there was what can only be described as a rattle/clonk. If revs were normal then everything ok, but had to try again with revs on the low side to see if the noise came again and it did everytime.
Anyone any ideas or had similar?

cheers

If it sounds like a load of bolts being shaken in a metal bucket... then yes.
Done 18k miles and it hasn't blown up so it must be o.k.

cue: my engine blowing up half way across France tomorrow

Thats the noise, ok then seems like nothing to worry about.
Enjoy the blast across france. ps dont forget to leave the speed trap detector at home if you've got one

this is the chain drive rattling at low rpm, every sp6 engine i have driven does this! nothing to worry about, you can get the noise in every gear if the revs are low enough!

Ditto!! I too have the same! Was worried that something was loose and about to fall off! lol, It sounds worse with the acoustics in the garage when I'm reversing out!
Another mind now put to rest
