Tamora or not?
Discussion
I think the best way you could be pointed is to browse members profiles and look at their posts and what they have said about it, the members in question are:
Flasher
Nubbin
GB16930 (perhaps, I may have got the profile wrong!)
These chaps have had their cars for quite some time now and everything they have said almost without exception has been very very very positive and along the lines of 'Best TVR ever' so there you go!
Matt.
PS hope you go for the Tamora, a Boxster S just wouldnt be the same

I hope that you aren't expecting a balanced reply, especially given the last sentence....
check out the Tamora section first. There are differing opinions on the styling and appearance, but there appears to be universal acknowledgement of the outstanding speed, power and handling of the Tamora.
I have not driven one, so can't compare it to my Chimaera, but there are some here who have moved from Chim to Tamora so you'll get some useful views.

Jenny, sounds like you need to go a drive a Tamora, that should make your mind up for you.
I had a Chimaera for 3 years and loved everything about it. Now that I've had the Tamora since January I never even think about the Chimaera!
I do miss the Chimaera sound at idle but the Tamora sounds just as good with revs up!
The Tamora is far superior in handing/traction/speed, etc. as well as far more modern and comfortable in side. OK so it's harder to get the roof into!
I test drove a Boxter S a few weeks back as I had a mailing from Porsche GB. Nice car but that's about it. Not very quick and not very nice inside.
Good luck!
Cheers........ Andrew

Jenny, if you've got the cash, get a Tamora. It looks great, and goes ridiculously fast, handles amzingly well, sticks like glue in corners, and the acceleration and braking are of time displacemnet quality! Boxsters are nice cars, but they are very common, mass-produced, and nowhere near as powerful, nor as exciting. They do have the great redeeming qualities of reliability and slow depreciation, but mine has been first class in terms of reliability, just a few minor trim niggles, like most hand built cars, but mechanically perfect. Go for it!
Oh, and my last car was a Chimaera - I bought the Tamora to address all the perceived weaknesses of my Chimaera - poor ride quality, lack of grip in corners, build quality etc. I have not been disappointed.

I'm still puzzled as to why everyone assumes that any of us are just biased TVR lovers who will stick up for their TVR's come what may.
If the Tamora was shite, I can promise you I would be on here raving so much that Ted would ban me for life. There is no way I could spend the best part of £40,000 and lie about whether the product is any good or not. The only thing I have ever defended is it's styling and only when the same boring twats keep rambling on about it in every post they make.....most of it because they can't stand the fact that TVR have bought out something better for less than they paid for the particular model that they own... (IMO)
My opinion (for what it's worth) is to go and drive both cars (like I did) and pick the one you like best.... like GB1390 I found the Boxster nice, but ultimatley bland and boring..... whereas the Tamora is more powerful and much more involving/exciting and rarer...
but hey, what do I know? I'm just a biased TVR owner

Jenny,
I have owned a Griff 500 a Cerbera 4.5 and now a Tamora. In my opinion this is the best car TVR have ever made, the handling is truly sensational and the build quality has improved a step again. I love the interior. I am fortunate enough to also own a F355 and can assure you that TVR are definitely heading in the right direction !
