Well, I took the Tamora to TMS for it's first big service today. I was quoted £545 for the 6K service. It had a few minor things to be sorted....

1. Sticky window lift switch
2. small oil leak from oil pressure switch.
3. You can open the doors when travelling!! (This isn't supposed to happen as the doors should lock over a certain speed)

Service all done and all the above sorted with no problems. Getting it back tomorrow. For a brand new model TVR I think that is amazing and TVR deserve a pat on the back for building such a smashing little car. The guy in the service deepartment looked at my small list and said "Is that it??"

Well done TVR

Hi, flasher. Did the valves need doing? if so, that's a very good price. Maybe it'd be worth contacting James, because it's a much more enjoyable drive than going to HHC, and sounds like the service is 1st. class...

Flasher,

That proves they're economical to run - I paid £914.36 for a 48k mile service today - on the wifes Defender!!! that did include new brakes all round and the aircon rethingy - but even so........

I don't want to darken every one's optimism, but Flasher's car is an ex-demo, isn't it?
As such it might have been built with extra extra extra special care and attention...?
Awaiting other owners first big services...

Not necessarily. Kings demo was (may still be) badly put together - bonnet and drivers door not aligned and rubbing, water leak in boot, refused to idle when cold when I had it and the speedo didn't work.

Another Tamora owner on here confirms that it was in a poor state when he drove it some weeks earlier, so it hadn't just happened!

It was still bloody fast and handled fantastically though!

Disagree on the service part anyway. Maybe mine took a wee bit longer to put together and therefore build quality is slightly better, but engine wise it shouldn't make any difference, and the car has sailed through the first 6K service at £545 plus vat. making it about £630.

Thats expensive but much less than a Ferrari and some of the Mercs I used to own...

By the way nubbin and Andy etc. the valves didn't need doing.....or any other engine parts. TMS said all was fine with the lump.

Just had 6,000 mile service done at Hawthorns and could not fault their attitude. 6.5hrs + £88.85 for parts came to £524 (inc VAT) with no problems reported. I gave them a list of niggles which they have worked thru' and will take the car back into the bodyshop to adjust the bonnet and passenger door and respray where required. Also mentioned roof seals and gave them the 'pistonhead' fix to discuss with them when I collected the car only to find they thought it was such a sensible idea they did it anyway - F.O.C. !!
For those who are interested, they have used Castrol formula SLX oil and provided a Volvo S40 as a free courtesy car.

Had my 6000 mile service done yesterday at Kings.
With 6.5 hours labour at £70 (ex. VAT!) plus parts it came in at around £675! Quite a bit more then you payed at Hawthorns Janes!
Luckily for me it was free due to the way I (and the car) have been treated by them!
Cheers.... Andrew

Is there anywhere as expensive as TVR Centre? They lost my MOT certificate which I later found behind the passenger seat in a puddle formed from the complimentary jet wash. The real fun started when I found enough pebbles in the footwells to build a jacuzi to put the water in! Can't understand what has happened they have always been really helpful in the past...

I will be checking out the new dealer, Castle next time...its near Stansted Airport.

Flasher told me to try TMS (is he on commission!!) but I don't fancy the drive and would have to arrange a loaner
