My new T350 had been slightly slower to rouse from it's slumber before bursting into life, last Thursday.
Later that day, all the rev lights started flashing with accompanying beeps – rather unexpected at a steady 2000rpm.

Once it had got my full attention on the narrow, twisty country road the engine started to run roughly and the digital display silently announced ‘system shutting down’***!!!!!
'NO you’re NOT!!'

Thankfully it cooperated, allowing me to limp another 500yds and pull off gratefully into a layby.

I thought it just had to be the alternator, and after jump-starting from a slave battery the AA engineer agreed – but not fixeable or driveable. So it was packed up onto a truck, tail firmly between legs after only 700 miles.

Gorner's couldn’t have been more helpful, staying open ‘til 7pm to tuck the car up safely for the night in the garage, with a priority slot in their busy workshop early next day as it’s my daily car.

A new alternator was rapidly collected from the factory – usefully close to the dealer - and it's first service was fitted in a few miles early. It was trucked back to me after 2 working days, complete with Leven plug-in battery leads f.o.c. (for instant connection to remote battery if ever needed). First class!

So confidence is shaken just a touch, but then the first 1k miles in most exotics will unearth a few minor gremlins that can then be exorcised for life.
Are all the other recent T350's faring ok?

Uh-oh, I always dreaded the day cars that run under Microsoft Windows would hit the streets (be glad it wasn't the program 'brake.exe' being aborted!) ...

At least you didn't get the blue screen of death.

I have only covered 500 miles in mine as I'm now in California on business. Will be back home at the weekend to rack the rest of the running in miles up on a trip to central Wales.

No mechanical problems whatsoever. Doesn't appear to use much oil or water either. I do get a warning message on startup occassionally, but nothing else. Now I've turned off all the warning sounds from the dashpod and fixed the targa fitments the car is a pleasure to drive. Only a really annoying chirping sound from behind the dash is spoiling a very good car.

Obviously, there are lots of minor problems to list for the 1,000 mile service such as a few paint blemishes and a wonkily fitted glovebox lid, but otherwise it's great.

People do tend to get a bit close to the rear end trying to read the T350T badge though ... won't be a problem once I've got a few more revs to play with :-)

BTW - 500 miles without any stonechips - is that a record?

Clocked up 1100 miles in 10 days. Had 1000 service this morning. Took it up to 6500 (1st and 2nd) on way back from garage. Really starts to move from 5000. Brilliant.

No Stone chips!! I've got problem with glove box. Not bothered. Also chirping from dashpod. Ok for moment, but I guess after a few months I might start to get annoyed. Mind, not really aware of it when pushing along. Exhaust note just continues to rise.
No fix from factory regarding EFI Warning Code 4. Still comes up on start up. Dealer diagnostics indicate no problem.

Trefor,
Did you just switch of sound, but still get warning?

I've now done abuut 6,000 miles in my Tamora, and I swear I've got a blimmin' stone chip for every single one of them...

Never had a mechanical problem in those 6,000 miles though, unless you count my windsceen wiper motor blowing up. Oh, I did have a tiny, tiny oil leak too but nothing to speak of. Actually thinking about it, there was a little pinking problem that required replacement of the ECU....

I suppose what I'm basically trying to say is never had a problem that even came close to preventing me getting from A to B, and the little niggles are more than worth it IMHO

Same, tiny things, that haven't caused me to get wound up over the last 6 months (6000 miles). The front has however needed repainting. Don't know what's different, but I now seem to be able to manage the stone chips.
Looking forward to trip to Zolder /Nurburgring - and fingers crossed, the forecast should be for more fun.

Agree about the tiny niggles we have, they don't detract from the unmatched driving pleasure!

Seriously off topic, but the Swedish Navy has just ordered some Naval ships worth hundreds of millions of dollars running the cutting edge Windows NT operating system..!!!

Everything is controlled by NT and when it goes pop (and it will) they are stuffed.... Warship Vasa anyone?

5000 miles on mile, only problems are:

1) Seatbelts not working.... oh sorry yes they are...... oh sorry, they're not again

2) Glovebox sometimes shuts, sometimes doesn't

3) Boot sometimes opens, sometimes doesn't

4) Ticking over a bit low (around 600), will wait until 6000 mile service to sort it

5) Couple of error messages which apparently meant nothing

6) Drinks too much petrol

done 3000 miles in the last month, i have not had to add a single drop of oil!!!!!!!!!! with the tuscan, it usualy had to have around 1/2 litre everythousand, if not more!!

also been averaging over 25mpg, as high as 29mpg and these is doing serious three figure speeds ( i love living abroad could be a very good reason not to come back!!)

6500 mostly happy miles and 1 year old, 26mpg, no oil useage, but coolant needs regular top ups.

Variety of error messages when too cold, too loney, or just to say hi it seems - none of them seem to mean anything except an oil warning, which was a sensor fault and changed under TVR warranty.

Usual issues coaxing the seatbelt from it's bed, but generally if the drivers side is lower than the offside (kerb or camber) it's fine.

Not entirely convinced about the windscreen wipers - something about the motion which doesnt seem quite right.

Devastating acceleration and noise above 4.5K but a bit weedy up to that point. All in all I am definitely happy with the purchase!

There are 2 different line items on the menu which you can switch sounds off for. I set them both to 0%. I know when my indicators are on and I can read the dials - not sure if it will still beep if the engines about to blow up ... Maybe it does beep on startup with the error warning, I will check this weekend when I get home.

Regarding the EFI warning - this is exactly what I get. What software version is everyone running? (it tells you on the main screen). Guess this is a problem with the latest software since it's happening to our new cars.

Hi Coach ...& Ginger!

Enjoyed the chat at Staffs; you'll be welcome to actually drive my user-friendly T350 - wouldn't have offered with my earlier Griff, after a friend discovered huge torque at 1500rpm broadside out of a roundabout- he got the tail back only WITH my help!

Mine's version 01.5 - as warning appears common to all, dealer today is passing on to factory to look into it more thoroughly, will advise if get anywhere.

Incidentally Trefor, if your mid-Wales route takes you within 50m of Shrewsbury, could zoom out for & swap notes, if our schedules allow?

How much did it set you back to get the front paint job sorted, if you don't mind me asking? I think i may need to invest!!

Will definitely see you at the August meet (on hols for the July meet) unless we see you at the run to Oulton Park?
