Hi

I've finally got my Tamora, picked it up last Friday and have not stopped grinning since. The only thing I don't like is all the attention it seems to draw.

Its drinking fuel like it's going out of fashion, but then again I have been driving the car a lot and using the upper end of the rev range once the oils up to temp. It's clear that the top end of the rev range is immense once you get past 5k revs, but I'm a bit worried it won't do the SP6 any go good. I’ve set the red shift light at 7k. I'd like to know do you use all the revs and do high rev gear changes from time to time?, is it going to go pop quickly if I red line the engine once warmed up. I'm not talking about screwing the nuts of it every where either, but maybe once a week a good blast along some country roads for 30 miles or so.

Also, what’s the set up of the car on the limit of cornering? the lateral grip is really strong on smooth roads, but what happens when you breach the limit?
Does it under steer or over steer first, and if the backend lets go first, is it progressive or is it going to bite me in the arse without any warning. I could take the car to the track and learn all this, but I've decided not to.

I'd be very grateful for any advice

Regards

glad to see you got one. what colour / spec / price etc and from where?

I use up to about 6k revs pretty often to be honest - it's amazing how much accelerator travel there is and it took me a while to discover it - so no real need to rev up to 7k IMHO.

Handling is spot on - understeer if off the power and over steer if on it I'd say. Watch out for straight line tail wagging on the power too (damp roads mainly) - it's caught me out a couple of times when dragging it.

It can undulate and feel a bit wallowy over undeven surfaces at speed - again just my humble opinion. I have a set of Nitron suspension which I've not fitted yet, but I'm hoping the improvesd damping of those will sort this.

Overall a very impressive car.

cheers

Bumcrack,
Glad to see you are enjoying the car. I have been driving the car to the red light regularly for two and a half years and it's never missed a beat. The sound is just too good not to
The rev limiter would (should ) be set lower by the factory if there was a problem. As long as your oil is warmed up there should be no problem.
Found this on another thread:
"Try to avoid more than 3,000 rpm until the oil (not water) temperature has exceeded 40c, 4,000 rpm until 60c and 7,000 rpm until 80c, If it climbs above 110c, please keep the revs below 5,000 rpm until the oil temperature returns to normal."

As for taking it to a track, I REALLY recommend it. Honestly, blasting round the track in the Tamora with the roof down is amazing, it stops and goes and corners like a crazy thing.

Thanks for the info,

The car is Frosties old car, a member of Piston Heads and I swapped it for the S2000 and some cash. It's well spec'd too. Close ratio box, 18’s, roof lining, battery charger, A/C, White and Blue leather interior.
Happy with the deal, got it for a fair price for both parties

Here's the link

I've done a bit of reading regarding the oil temp and am following the advice to the letter, so I should be ok.

What happens when the limit is breached, is it progressive?
