Just been out to Racing Green to see my car, fresh out of the oven, after today's respray to Iced Titanium Metallic. Couldn't be happier with the colour.

Hopefully I'll get her back for the weekend!

I'm the car's second owner, so somebody else spec'd her. She was chameleon green with black and mid-blue interior. Not only was the cham. green not a colour I really like (bit too flash for me), but the blue with the green just didn't do it for me either. I toyed with the idea of having the blue bits changed to black, but with carpets, headlining, seat trim and doors all blue, the cost was getting up to respray territory, and I'd still be left with a green car (and a very dark interior). So I decided to get her finished in my favourite ever car colour (last 3 cars have been gunmetal! - I just don't think you can beat it, so classy), and the interior will stay as it is. The black leather with blue trim looks stunning with dark silver (imo). It's funny, cos I would never have chosen blue trim if I'd spec'd the car from new, but it really really works, and is a cool change from the usual gunmetal with dark red combo. (which looks stunning too of course!)

This is going to sound like a silly question but, why didn't you buy one the colour you wanted ??

Looks lovely though

I suspect the answer to your question to be:

a) there wasn't one for sale

or

b) it was cheaper to buy the chameleon & get it resprayed

Out of interest, how much is a respray, approx.

Looks good by the way, althought I personally would also be tempted by the darker alloys (for even the one on the Sagaris if they fit).

Hobo is part right. I actually got offered the car by way of a swap for my 350Z, so my shopping experience was a little different to most. I had hoped to own a T350 in a couple of years when the prices fell, but then this deal came along and it was too good to resist. The car was inspected by Rob Ingleby and deemed one of the very best he'd seen/driven, so I went for it. Even though it was not a colour I would have bought in normal circumstances, it wasn't a terrible colour, everything else about the car was 100%.

I am tempted too! Definitely needs anthracite alloys now to complete the look, and the new design ones are gorgeous. Anyone know what they cost? If it's too much I will probably get the Spiders repainted anthracite.

I think I can see an Exige lurking in the garage, I don't think Mr Pesky forgave me for getting rid of mine and replacing it with a Tamora - it seems you have solved the problem by having both!!

Having suffered the claustrophobic cabin of the Exige for over two years I must say I hankered after a soft top and the Tamora fitted the bill exactly, the T350 may look the business but let's face it a true sports car should be a rag top and not a coupe.

That's a very mid-life crisis thing to say David, have you just had a birthday?

How perceptive, a senior moment, had just been reading the thread where Tamora owners were defending their choice against other models and decided (not intentionally)to mix topics

Back on subject, your car looks great, I think you've made the right decision, mine is Starmist Grey with anthracite wheels - you've got to get your wheels resprayed to complete the job.

Going back to age, which you were so unkind to mention, what is the age profile of TVR ownership? Having had the Exige and been part of their excellent forum exiges.com, it seemed that ownership is split between the upwardly mobile 20-30's and the 50 plus skiers (founder member) Very few mid 30's - mid 40's - (now that is a mid life crisis - people carriers and 4 wheel drives)

Suspect TVR ownership is the same - answers and confessions of age on a postcard

Very glad you took that in the spirit it was intended!!

From my experience of meeting other TVRer's, it's quite a mixed bunch, age-wise. Unless that's just the West London lot - we seem to range from early 20's to 40's. Maybe that's just a London thing, with more young people being able to afford these beasties. I must say, when I had my Elise, the only other people I saw out on the road in Elises were much older than me, and I never saw a girl. Seem to be more ladies in TVR's.

Did you have your alloys repainted or just buy new anthracite ones? I intend to change wheel colour, and would rather just have them painted if poss.

I just replaced mine with anthracite ones (profile). was going to get them powder coated to save cost but ended up selling the old wheels (easy). Paid a shade over a grand for the wheels including fitting and balance. I posted some details of how much the powder coating was going to cost. i'd link to it but the search function doesn't seem to work on my pda browser (i'm still in bed!). try searching for "neil.b" and "powder" in this forum.

let me know if you can't find it and i'll dig it out later.

Yes the Exige is still lurking and comes out to play on track days. Just couldn't bring myself to sell!

Thanks Neil - I found the link. How much did you get for your silver spiders? Are the anthracite ones the same price as silver (£140 +VAT)? Questions questions....

If you look around, there are powder coaters that will do it cheap, it all depends on the condition of the alloys, if there scuffed but only the paint its cheaper, i got a quote from a small place uuuup noorth who i had used before and was around 55-60 squid a wheel.

powder coating is the way ahead if your alloys are in good condition and most places can do them in a couple of days.
