Shaped Number Plates?

Rods, I thought about using a stick on but felt that it would probably end up with creases where it takes up the contours of the bonnet. Did you manage to avoid this? If so, how? Also, where did you source the stick on plate?
A friend of mine works for a vehicle sign writing company,we tried ordinary stick on ones and their was too many creases. He then made some up which are applied with hot air (hair drier) perfect no adhesive either.
There's some info' on this thread www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=7&h=&t=96053
I had mine done at the factory. Like I say on this thread, applied with very strong double-sided thick tape - been off and back on for respray and no problems

Sooo, do you all think that maybe the shaped front plate makes it harder for Tallivan operators to get a fix on our cars? My understanding was that they target a flat area on the front to get the signal to bounce back - a car like a T350 has no completely flat area on the front.
Or am I dreaming.
P.S. I'm not planning to test this theory

It's O.K. I've tested the theory and the photo they sent me shows they target area was on the bonnet! BTW I'm fighting the conviction.
