VXR8 Stereo not coming on

My R8 Radio would not come on the morning, the screen stayed blank for about 10 minutes and then decided to start working, anyone else had the problem or know what it may be?

Hopefully sounds like it will just be a loose connection at the back, may be take the radio out and just have a check of the wires, a plug may have V8 rumbled it's way loose.

I have a set of double din keys (for the Monaro ) we can try on the 15th if you don't get a chance before hand

I had something similar. My sat nav display went dead, worked on the centre dash display thank god, then came back on again after about 10 mins. Did the same again a little later on. Picador fixed the problem by installing a new screen! (on warranty)

Will just see what happens, perhaps it was just a new owner glitch

the front face pulls off open ash tray grab the bottom of the face and give it a good pull they are tight but do come off .had the same problem with mine 18 month ago and thats all the guy at vauxhall did dirty connections thats all

As Kaw says, the front comes off, vaux did mine, guy said he just cleaned & retensioned spring type electrical connections, I found just giving it a gentle push would bring it back to life

Just pushing the display may do it. Mine was the same, went purple... a push sorted it.
Picadors Southampton replaced at one point.

Mine is occasionally temperamental, but has been fine for a few weeks. These cars seem to self repair!

Similar problem replaced under warranty by Slaters Vauxhall

Its been ok since it played up the other day, will wait for it to fail again before I do anything, it might self heal, perhaps it was not liking it out of a garage all night LOL

May as well add to this thread install of start another.

Plugged in an aux cable today and the sound was only coming out of 1 speaker, so I tried the old 'prod the surround' trick, and I now had sound out of both speakers, but it killed the display! Headunit still working, just screen died. A few more random prods and the screen came back on. Hoping a dodgy connection?

If I pull the surround off as described above, does the headunit slide out the front after removing the screws? Are the cables long enough to pull it out, check/clean the connections, and get it back in again?

No the cables are on either side of the unit ,you need to remove the trim panels to access them, aerial is on the left and main is on the right the unit will not slide out with them in place .Most probable cause is fascia though so i would pull that off first and clean those connectors before trying to get the unit out

Hi all, my VXR8 radio is intermittently flipping from CD to Aux. Could this be anything to do with my auxiliary battery?
