Having spoken to some of you at the Ace Cafe regarding tyres ,the opinion seemed to be that Goodyear F1's were a good choice. But there is two models so what one? How much did you pay and what are they like for road noise etc? Ta.

Andy
Just got 2 on the front this morning at Kwik-fit (no jokes please) £145 each fitted.

They are the GSD3 which is the latest model. The older model is a shorter length V on the pattern.

Mirax reported to me he had these tyres on and siad they suited the car very well. Tended to be more progressive drift rather than snapping I think is the way he describbed them.

Time will tell. I'll keep you informed. They do look nice though.

Hi chaps. Just got back from Lagos. Sorry missed the ACE cafe.

Its good to be back despite the weather.

HSV running very well with new cats. In workshop today I pulled out the arial when it was stuck.

Thanks for the info on tyres, will give them a go next time.

If this helps at all, over here (Aus/NZ) they recommend we use what they were fitted with from factory - Bridgestone Potenza SO-3's, but if you can't get them the Eagle F1 GSD3's that you're talking about are the second choice. In my opinion they are both good, comparitively the SO-3's grip better, but the F1's last a bit longer.

Of course, I guess the road surface is probably a bit different - the first thing that usually happens to any European car when it arrives here is it has it's tyres changed to something more suitable for our roads.

Just had 2 F1 GSD3's fitted (well thats what I asked for!) I've noticed that it doesn't seem to say "GSD3" anywhere on the tyre and also the tread semm a lot thiner on the outer edge of the tyre than the middle. Anyone care to comment as it was a mate who supplied them and it might avoid an embarrasing situation?

That is normal re: thinner outer tread depth, was the no 1 choice for my smart, best wet weather tyre that I have tried. With only 850 kg they wander about until 'run in'- no probs on the HSV I should'nt wonder?

I fancy Toyo Proxes next, any experiences?

I think it says it on the piece of paper they rip off. Mine doesn't say GSD3 either and the outer sipes are shallow.

Thanks Will, the Toyo's are now standard fit on new TVR's I think. How close are you to 626 horses at the moment?

I phoned Mark last week, then it was in pieces awaiting a few bits but think it will be ready for MAr-01.
