Didn't the black monaro have a CAPA badge on it? Did it go round the track, if so what time?

The dark HSV ran the quarter mile. The supercharged Jag XKR took it for most of the way but the Holden won by a car length. No times though.

The red car was put round the track and Jezza was saying how ace it was on the limit and mentioning the Vauxhall Monaro. Troubler is, this was the same car tested by EVO and it has 370bhp and HSV badges so isn't comparable to the Vauxhall version.

The track time was 1min 33 point something in the wet which was a few tenths slower than the next car up, a Golf R32 in the dry. However, again, the HSV will have a better handling setup than a stock Vauxhall Monaro so it really isn't much information. He also mentioned something about modifications to the UK handling spec. Overall, remember those ringers Chevy supplied to the press in the 60's.....

I hope they test the Monaro when it arrives.

I was a little disapointed in the TOP Gear article. Mainly due to the confusion or lack of facts. Also feel a little sorry for Mark. Having provided them with a car (Capa I think) he did not get a mention and did not get credit for currently supplying the cars in UK.
Question when is a HSV a HSV. Will the car imported by Vauxhall be badged as HSV or not and will it be true HSV performance as sold in Aus. Will we end with 3 versions - HSV, Vauxhall hybrid and CAPA.

Anyway they are still great cars, track or day to day.

Yeah I agree that Mrk should have had some credit too. LSV should have been promoted as a very different car.

I am confused too.

I think the UK will be getting a Vauxhall Monaro is 2 specs. Lower spec same as a Holden Monaro at 320HP and a higher spec at 370HP which I think will be the same spec as a HSV.

Comments anyone?

My current understanding is that there will be two Vauxhall models, one at 330bhp for £28.5k and one at 380bhp at £35.0k. Either way a lot of car for the money, but you will have noted the handling was a bit of .... a handful.

The time for the CAPA Monaro in the wet was 1.28, and was about ten seconds faster than the basic Vauxhall model. The time posted was 'theoretical' for a 380bhp Monaro.

It's a major shame we didn't get more recognition, but that's the way these things tend to go. Perhaps if we'd supercharged the black Monaro ....

The red one was 1:33 point something. So that would be 1:29 in the dry. And it's still a 370bhp HSV. Not bad for a big car but a long way behind the VX220 Turbo. When did they do the black one round the track?

Hmmmm slower than a VX220. Try going to Le Mans with 3 passengers 3 tents etc etc at 135mph in a VX220.
