If we don't start

talking again Ted will take the page away again. So for what it's worth I've just found out how deceptively quick my R is at erm "higher" speeds, as the driver of the Chimaera 500 realised yesturday( Never normally do anything like this and it was dry clear road etc.) Now having owned a Griffith 500 I can vouch for how quick TVR 5 litre cars are and have no doubts that up to about 70ish it would be significantly faster than the R but I was astonished that not only at the "higher speeds" did it not pull away but I was actually gaining a bit. Mark has said a couple of times to me that the acceleration is perhaps more impressive further up the scale and for the first time (and probably only time as I don't make a habit of this) it really surprised me.

The problem with going really fast in a Griff/Chimaera is that it gets bloody scary over about 130/140, especially with the roof off. Maybe he/she just wasn't trying fully...
Quite possibly, Marcus Aurellius.
Although the memories are getting hazy now, I recall my limited exposure to Griffology being something certainly not for the faint hearted...the Chimera, contrarily, felt hugely stable - possibly more so than a contemporary Cerbera (based on a brief Skyline R34 encounter when the TVR impressed me greatly).
But as you say on your profile, what could beat a sunny day's top down couintry side blast in a 500?
Marvellous!
DeR, when I was making my mind up about a 4 seater (kids ) I had the pleasure of an M5 for a weekend. This was a truly magnificent car BUT strangely left me a bit cold. If anything it was a bit too good and I found the HSV just a little bit more exciting, in a TVR type way. Just want to mention how much I enjoy your posts (when I decipher some of the longer words!) and did I mention I drove an Arnage T for an hour a little while back ....unbelievable tidal wave on wheels.
Alftorque, wasn't any sort of slight on the accelerative capabilities of TVRs more an expression of surprise at mine.
