Hi guys I run www.holdencars.com.au down here in Australia and we are looking for UK Holden owners

I am not here to take people away from this website I just would like some UK Holden owners to post pictures of there Holdens on holdencars.com.au

www.holdencars.com.au is the ultimate Holden car website that gives you the tools to build your very own webpage to show your Holden vehicle/s. Show us your holden, meet people just like you, with an interest in Holdens, post pictures of your Holden, load up a video of your holden, form a Holden club or just chat with other Holden enthusiasts in our Holden Forum. It just takes a couple of minutes to join and it is FREE. This website is dedicated to showing Holden cars and the real people who own them. The site also would like to showcase Holden's proud motoring history within Australia and New Zealand. So go on "Show Us Your Holden" All Holden models and clubs are welcome.

Cheers Norm

Oh dear, you wont get many people wanting to give their post-code etc (seems to be mandatory), particularly as it's not HTTPS

Might have to rethink that, a postcode in Australia covers thousands of homes in a group of suburbs, in England it can pinpoint an individual house...

Tim is right, its address specific in the UK as opposed to Australia so too risky to advertise the precise whereabouts of expensive machinery!

Hi all. Is there anyone on here that knows how to read engine codes? I'm in need of some help but info on Holdens here in the UK is scarce especially for the older cars.

Hi. I'm in Wiltshire. The car in question is a 64 EH Ute, but I think it's been fitted with a late 70's early 80's commodore red engine.

You saying 1964 ?

And a 1970's or 80's engine is not going to be dishing out fault codes any time soon.

Or are you trying to establish a type of engine or something ?

Post your engine code mate, I should be able to help.

The engine displacement size is cast as 3 digits on the block, below the exhaust manifold.
EH fitted with 149 and 179 from factory, but common to replace over the years with are 186 and 202. there is also a date code that should be under the oil filter. Look for 2-3 digits with a letter. That will tell you year and month,

How did you EH get the UK? how long you had it. Would love to see pics.

I’ve got a 70 Hg running a 186 red engine, my ol man had a EH back in the 70s.

Hi and thank you. I really do not know anything about Holden, so any help is most welcome.
The engine code is VL328452 there are raised numbers ( 33 ) on the block under the inlet manifold. That's interesting to know about the date code, I will look next time I'm with the car (probably Friday). The car was imported by my friend in 2005, sadly he passed away a couple of years ago.

Thank you.
The Ute will be sold. It's been stored in a heated garage for the last few years, only started now and again. I'm going through the brakes and will give the car a service and put an MOT on her before hand.

Also sorry to hear about your pal. Hang onto that car, EH utes are hard to come by with rust free restored models going for over £11k in Oz

Your right your engine is from Holden VB-VK commodores released 1979-1985, the “VL” prefix gives that info.
That series of car is based on the Opel Senator.

The date code would further narrow it down.

You should have a body id plate above the firewall on the passenger side, this will give you more info on your car, decode it using this.

Body:
Model
The first two letters will state simply whether the vehicle is an 'EJ' or 'EH'.
Chassis Type
215 - Standard Sedan
219 - Standard Station Sedan
225 - Special Sedan
229 - Special Station Sedan
235 Premier Sedan
239 Premier Station Sedan
2104 Panel Van
2106 Coupe-Utility
Transmission Type
The 'M' or 'A' that followsthe Chassis Type indicates Manual or Automatic
Chassis Number
The chassis number starts after the dash, and is followed by a final letter
A - Adelaide
B - Brisbane (assembly only)
M - Melbourne
S - Sydney
P - Perth (assembly only)
NZ - New Zealand (assembly only)
Trim:
The Trim code is in two parts and the first part which is 3 or four digits indicates the paint scheme used. The second part starting with 'B' or 'C' followed by two digits indicates the interior trim itself.
