Hello

MWP seems HSV at a premium

they seem to have mixed opinions from customers ..

is it worth paying the MWP premium ?

I haven t actually bought anything from WM Performance as the parts I ve been after were never in stock.
Having said that I ve not actually heard a bad thing about them and they appear to have some knowledge of Monaro s and VXR 8 s ect.
It s only a personal opinion but paying a premium on a car because they happen to be selling it is not something I would entertain.
If you can take someone with you to inspect the car and always negotiate the asking price. Also be prepared to walk away if things don’t work out.

We've used MWP numerous times and they are absolutely phenomenal. We've had work done on our VXR8, ordered parts and just called for advice. They IMO are by far the best specialists for these cars.
I wish I'd known about them when Monkfish were about!!! I'd pick MWP over MF in a heartbeat!

During my ownership of my Monaro, I used Monkfish many times, they were faultless in every way, second to none.
MWP have mixed reviews with people I have spoken to in the community (I personally have had no dealings with them) I have always thought they are way over priced in the HSV department and on other marquees, but that just me.
I don’t believe it’s worth paying a premium for the way they prep their cars.

Yeah we always used Monkfish for years on our Monaro and VXR8. We were happy at the time. We had many upgrades on both cars. One of which was a full Wortec "stainless steel" exhaust system with OTR at the cost of about £5000+ on the VXR8.
We are now having to have headers custom made as the "Stainless steel" ones that came with the package have rotted! I know I'm not the only person in this position and we have no comeback as MF no longer exist!
MWP are actually cheaper we've found than MF ever were. Their service is second to none.
Just my experience!

For clarity, the VXR8 headers were never stainless steel. They were always steel.

Monaro headers WERE satinless steel.

Purely out of curiosity, why was that? Were the vxr8 more stressed/prone to cracking?

Noise. In there stainless form they sounded awful, from inside the car. Very harsh, is the best way i can describe it. Sound insulation in the early VE cars wasnt the best.

Yes It’s been super hot.
A couple of weeks ago I was out in the old Monaro driving around Kielder forest which was fantastic……and she didn’t miss a beat.smile

I bought my Monaro from MWP 3 years ago, had some upgrades done and all the servicing. When something went wrong they sorted it out. I live 40 miles and always make sure it goes to them for any work. Wouldn’t take it anywhere else. I find dealing with the guys there dead easy too.
