Hi all, any ideas on this one?
VXR8 auto 2007 LS2, Car went into garage for quite a few jobs that needed doing, garage recommended a service on the gearbox (new filter & fluid change) after getting the car back for a few days, the management light came on and i ended up with only about 3 gears, after turning off and on again it cleared and was fine for a few more days, but now its gone again. i had no issues with the gearbox previously before going in for the work. any help much appreciated thanks

Did they put enough transmission fluid in?
I think they take about 22 litres! I had something similar a couple of years ago.
Get it back to the garage.

As above advice.
However I’m not familiar with the VXR8, but can you check the trans fluid level as it might just need a top up. It’s a long shot, but you never know.

I've not paid much attention, but from my vague recollection servicing the 6L80 in the R8s is not as straight forward as just drain the fluid out and put new stuff in.

No idea why not, but I seem to recall it possible to introduce more problems than you're fixing if it's not done properly, may be worth a bit of a Google as to what the process should be / why.

Either way, I'd talk to the garage ASAP, the longer you leave it the more they can say you've caused the problem somehow.

whilst it's in this state, dont load the box up - especially if it feels like it's slipping (bit like riding the clutch on a manual) as you will burn the clutch plates.
in other words, baby it.

There’s no slipping or strange noises, its like its gone into safe mode or something, and as said previously it cleared and behaved properly again for a few days until it went again. so hopefully it’s not too serious. i’m having it trailered up to the garage as it’s not local to me to be on the safe side.

Still in the garage at the moment, waiting on part, apparently it’s been diagnosed with an internal mode switch problem whatever that is, hopefully will cure the issue.
