Hi all,

Thought I finally had my monaro fully sorted but I've now had a couple of incidents where the car cuts out immediately after starting. If I give it a bit of accelerator as I turn the car on then it starts fine.

I'm thinking it could be time to replace the fuel filter unless anyone else has any thoughts? Annoyingly the fuel filter is supposedly in the tank on the facelift monaro?!

Thanks
Alex

Hello
Check the immobiliser is not cutting the engine , try your spare key see if it makes any difference , other option pre turning the key to start , push the unlock on the fob , see if that helps

You are correct the fuel filter is in the fuel tank and part of the fuel pump. I would carry out a fuel pressure test before you buy a new pump.

Thanks guys. After doing a bit of research into VZ commodore issues I do think it's an immobiliser related issue as you've stated. I've recently been messing around with my key. Soldered in a new battery and replaced the case for a cheap Chinese one that doesn't really fit together very nicely. I think perhaps the metal contact from the circuit board isn't always making enough contact with the blade of the key. At least I'm hoping that's what is going on!

There is a red key symbol that comes up on the dash see if that's coming back on when you are trying to start it , I did the same as you , had the same issue , put key in the ignition pressed open close on the fob a few times and it's re learnt and been ok since
