Just scored a job up in Andover... how many of you kids live up there, or have lived there. Any places that are nice to live?

Don't know Andover itself, but I lived in Winchester for a year & most years go fishing on the chalk streams that flow around Andover.
Stunning countryside & surrounding villages. Nice area to live in, but not cheap!

G’day Jason,

Congratulations on getting job mate!

I did have a Parcel delivery in Andover for a few years, not so nice around River Way, Cricketers & Roman Way Estates, Just north of town centre, (not recommended!), Charlton looks ok though.

But some VERY nice Villages around Andover,

NORTH From the A34 heading to Andover on the A303 take the B3048 after the FIRST Little Chef & drive from Longparish, all the way on to Hurstbourne Priors, St Mary Bourne & Hurstbourne Tarrant. From Hurstbourne Tarrant you can go (South) straight back to Andover on the A343 Newbury Rd or (North) to Newbury.

SOUTH of Andover you also have lovely Villages like Anna Valley, Abbotts Ann & Wherwell, (very English with Thatched Cottages)

WEST Just off the A303 as Will said another nice Village is Thruxton Good for the car racing!

Good luck mate,

Rob.

Yeah, can be up there after 6. Got to go find a place to live up there. Not sure if I am going to commute 100km each day. Love driving the car, but the traffic around here is horrible.

My number is 07950176689, give us a call, will stay up that way after 6. Got to check out the night life up there.

Hey Rob... yeah, going to go and see what sort of places I can rent out in the country. God, need to get out into the country, especially after living here in the middle of "we came, we saw, we concreted".

Will have to have a BBQ before you leave Rob. Just so you don't get a culture shock when you get home. Maybe can do it two fold. I find a place up in Andover, with LOTS of room, and we can all have a proper Barbie...

Good luck with the move mate. Bet there's no Aussie beer there. You better take some from Walkabout.

A good nice cold beer is only an hour away in each direction. Not that far away from Portsmouth, so expect to be down here every now and then.

Yeah, my liver is going to be a shocker as well... Going to Octoberfest... but going to be watching the AFL grand final with the Munich Kangaroo's (AFL German Team). Definitely going to be entertaining..... wish the Lions did a bit better this year... Oh well..

Ah yeah, decided that I am going to commute from Portsmouth.. Bit of a rip off paying 200 quid to some realestate agent to do buggar all, and I don't get it back either if I don't get the place.

Rather pay for the fuel bill instead of letting the rude buggars get away with it.

Thread Revival !
We have a elderly relative who's home will be sold soon as she can no longer cope with it, her daughter who looks after her said she would rather keep it in the family and has offered it to us at a reduced price.
It's in ludgershall near andover
I know nothing about the area, but the house has everything I like, it's got so much potential for a family home but it a big move.
I need to commute to Richmond / twickenham everyday so if anyone knows about the area please give me your honest opinion

Kimpton is nice - and v close to Thruxton. Bad news if you'll be using the M3 every day though!
