HOW TO BLEED WATER SYSTEM IN MONARO VXR LS2 ENGINE
Discussion
Hi after changing water fluid and antifreeze in LS2 6.0l engine, I am having trouble to get the heater getting hot air to work. Please advise where to bleed water system when changing fluid.
Many thanks for any info to sort this out

Hello Ade,
When I’ve change the coolant in the past I’ve just put the heater on max and run the engine at idle speed whilst topping up the radiator. I also squeeze the top hose to get some of the air out at the same time.
It might be worth having the front of the car jacked up slightly so the radiator is higher than the rest of the cooling system to help get the air out.
It could be that the thermostat hasn’t opened or possibly the heater valve might be stuck…( a bit of a long shot those two)

I remember doing mine on the LS2 years ago. I didn't have any issues but recall reading that it was very important to fill the system very slowly to avoid airlocks. And it was a Monkfish post stating this. Many thanks for any info to sort this out

The front of my car was slightly raised, but otherwise nothing special was done at all.
I filled from the radiator, and then just topped up the expansion bottle thing last.
Have done mine a few times of late, I just fill up the radiator, squeeze the hoses quite a bit then run it for a while, has never been much of a problem.
Best bet would be as others have mentioned jack the front of the car up a bit (or park up hill), heater on full temp and fans on full and get it fully up to temperature with the radiator cap off.
Giving the engine some RPM (not excessive or you'll pump the water out the top of the rad , couple of thousand rpm or so) which will pump it around a bit harder and may help push some air out.
