Hi all, had my car booked in for a oil and filter change at a local garage, but they cancelled it as they said they couldn't get an oil filter, no longer serviced by Vauxhall. So I went on e-bay and got a Borg and Beck BFO4257 filter from "Doctor Car Parts" Nottingham. Can somebody confirm that this is the right oil filter for an 04 5.7 CV8 with a cable throttle? The box says Alfa Romeo but hopefully it cross-refers to an 04 Monaro. Want to make sure it's the right filter before attempt number 2 at an oil change. Thanks in advance!

I can’t help you with that specific filter. But I had the same engine in a classic car and I used a K&N HP-1007. Perhaps cross reference - Use Autodoc, or RockAuto.

On their site it says it’s the correct one , for the monaro ls1 and ls2 , me personally i would go onto Rockauto and order a few via the fed ex route , the fed ex route is the full cost quoted door to door , the one that is advised is the acdelco pf46e , the monaro is listed under Pontiac gto , they will take about one week to arrive , if you trust the companies listing then that is also the correct one, but peace of mind for me would be rock auto , 3 filters is about 33 £ delivered all taxes included , the date quoted for delivery is the 23rd of October

Does it mention Z160 anywhere? That is an aftermarket number in Australia.

Some light reading!

These are the Ryco aftermarket filters in Oz.

If you click on specs, it has all the measurements for them to compare them with.

I'm > 90% certain yours will fit. You could always take the old one off and double check, what could possibly go wrong ?
Buy a PF46E which are readily available, then compare. You're covered both ways then !

If it's the standard LS1 oil filter (which I think it is, same part number PF46E) you can get these in the UK for £10 from a Vette specialist. Let me know I'll send you the link.

Cross referencing and reverse engineering where I am looking sort of indicates it might be equivalent to the oil filters for the later cars.
Ryco mentions Z663 for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio/Giulia which is the same filter for the 2006 onwards VE/VF V8 cars. (VXR8 over there)
Rockauto also lists the PF48 for the Alfa which is the filter for the VE/VF V8 cars.

That BFO4257 filter is showing as the correct one on other eBay motor shops too.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314871647681?mkrid=710-...
0&siteid=3&mkcid=1&campid=5338306792&toolid=10001&customid=&mkevt=1

ETA : but it doesn't tally up with cross reference numbers on RockAuto listing so I'd be leaving that one.

Alfa comes back as M22 thread, the PF46 mentioned is 13/16 thread.

They are not the same.

Rover K series and others are 13/16" thread too, I've used this in the past with the F-Body sump.

eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314763827505

So does your Monaro use metric or imperial ?

Thanks for the suggestions folks, I can't be bothered to crawl underneath and remove the old one for comparison, rather just take it to my local garage and let them do it.

PF46E comes up regularly, I'll buy one of them as a backup / spare, then re-book with my garage and hope that one of them fits!
