Sooooooooo it's been a year and still enjoying the VXR8. Using it as a "daily" (it's actually really a weekly) and the dog seems happy enough with it too and so here we are to expense time. Tax and insurance the best part of £1300 happy days. headache but that was to be expected, so on to the MOT.

With Vauxhall and some performance garages not wanting to touch it, I finally found a place with a guy who used to work on these. With 1 advisory last time and only 2900 miles covered since, I in all honesty, was not expecting much and then the call came.

Luckily most of it's easy stuff (once I've got the bits), pesky track rod ball covers, one of the license plate lights that works 98% of the time decided to not but the sticking point might be this:

"Exhaust carbon monoxide content at idle exceeds manufacturer's specified limit"

The O2/Lambda sensors are all OK, showing right levels etc. Engine management has no warnings or anything and the cat seems fine ... anyone had this on one of these before? Don't really want them to spend hours scratching their heads, poking things and not come through with anything?

Also, I'll get them to look at it but the battery voltage dial has stopped working since they had it, they knocked something out or is this one of those quirks like the rapid indicator?

little need to guess.

The test will have details of the emissions results on it, which any technician should make use of to determine any issues.

I appear to have been duped/not done enough due diligence ... The last MOT and previous receipt for the cats being re-installed are a bit of a fallacy. I took it back yesterday and the garage had it up on the ramp and a proper root through, no cats. censored

Soooooooooooooooooooooo, next question ...

Does anyone have a couple working ones for a VE 6.2 LS3?

I'd rather not have to fork out the Walkinshaw price if I can avoid it at this present time. Feelers are already out to Carl/Isaac at LS but I know Isaac is away right now too.

I would put a couple of generic say 400 cel cats on the car just for mot time-making them easily removed and swapped over for straight pipe-as far forward on the exhaust as you can to allow for easy quick warm up.

AAS in Newcastle will sort things out for you. Speak to Stuart and tell him what you want, either sports or standard spec cats.
He’ll give you the best price too.

There you go again thinking about supercharging hehe
I’ve told you before, let it go it’s too expensive….and you’ve spent a fortune already yikes
There’s no way I could spend that kind of money on my car…..OK yes I would, if only I had a few £££ lying around.
Anyway why is it always me that’s in the poor house crycry

This did cross my mind but I didn't want to end up with things that don't fit or need things cut off to get them in.

Just to update. AAS came through and were brilliant, totally recommend after that experience so thanks to those that recommended them. beer

Otherwise it had a few minor things to replace (thanks to LS/Isaac too) and then sailed it's MOT.

Only thing since it came back is the battery binnacle dial has decided to stop working (dead with the lights on) ... The car is charging and starting so I just figure something's been knocked somewhere, anyone got any easy ideas before I end up ripping the dash apart?
