Does anyone know where to get the springs for the handbrake shoes for my 04 Monaro? Walkinshaws have got the pads but no springs.

Counting that all the handbrakes are the same for the Monaros and VT-VZ Commodores.
Try putting the VT-VZ Commodore handbrake into Ebay OZ.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/123675270977 is one that comes up.

On my 05 VXR the shoe is a horse shoe shape supported by a clip on the back plate and attached to a piston at the bottom, no springs involved.

There's springs on my 05VXR one each side as in the ebay link above.
It's odd though that the factory manual and the gm parts catalogue don't show a spring in any of there images or part lists confused

Have you got a pic of how it looks? maybe that is why I keep on getting issues with mine because it is missing the spring lol.

I've done a bit of research and it appears the spring was added around 2004 after reports of a scraping noise there were various bulletins from around 2002 advising cleaning and greasing points on the handbrake but in 2004 a centralising spring was added
Part number for the scrape kit was 92147813
