Hello folks, I’ve got an LS2 VXR8 and it’s time to change the clutch. I dislike the idea of the price of LS7 clutch kits from over here. Rock auto sell a LUK 04-905 kit for an incredible amount cheaper that gets very good reviews. https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/luk,04905,clutch...

Will this fit my LS2? CV Apparently it’s the same as an LS7?

Much obliged

That is an LS7 clutch, which was used as an upgrade for the LS2 clutch on the Monaro for sure.

Is the VXR8 LS2 clutch the same as the Monaro one... Probably? hehe

I'm not 100% sure to be honest, I'd certainly assume they were the same, but would suggest some more confirmation before buying.

Thank you, anyone else with an input? Saves a lot of money even with £170 shipping from US….

99% sure that they are the same.
That kit is what is fitted to my LS1 Monaro. It is listed as the heavy duty option for the LS1 GTO, but not the LS2 GTO. However, the standard clutch (04173) is listed for both LS1 and LS2 GTO. See what I mean.
Also the standard clutch that fits the LS1 and LS2 GTO is also listed as fitting the LS2 G8 - which is their version of the VXR8.
So, if they all share the same standard clutch kit, they will surely share the same heavy duty kit. I 100% know that kit can be fitted to the LS2 Monaro.
Maybe give AAS Newcastle a call, the guys there are very helpful. Just ask them the question, they've done lots of work to Monaro and VXR8 over the years.

I've just been searching the forums for you and it does seem that the LS7 clutch kit does get fitted to the LS2 VXR8.
It also gets fitted to the LS3 engined car too.

Just one example..

Before you order, firstly make sure you use the FedEx option with the duty pre-paid. It'll arrive in a couple of days and you dont' get stung for "admin fees" or whatever they call it.

Also, in the "how did you hear about us", enter this code, which will get you 5% off the parts cost (expires 23rd June)

Luk are a good make , so should be no issues if it is the correct one , I upgraded my monaro cv8 ls1 to an ls7 , big improvement and slightly heavier , my ls3 comes as standard with one , and a lighter clutch feel , after then it was very expensive dual mass ones , based on how long a clutch lasts is it worth going the tried and tested ls7 route , my thoughts are you pay for what you get

Thank you so much guys, I really appreciate all of your help. Even with shipping at £176 that’s still a decent saving over buying the LS7 from Walkinshaw or MWP over here! You are legends!

Does the LS3 “standard” kit fit an LS2? There’s a cheap used (15K) kit on eBay at the moment that may well suit my purpose…. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325690193974?mkcid=16&a...

I saw that one on there, but I wouldn't touch that one tbh, signs of heat in pressure plate and flywheel and delamination on friction plate, if I was going the the lengths of swapping clutch, gotta be new for me tbh👍

I do agree with the use an ls7 plus buy a new one , but on a twist , when i did my monaro one it was a used one not a lot of miles done by the Fish and I never had an issue , so you take your chances , mine was at the fish for a leaking slave then found out the clutch was going so changed it too

That clutch on eBay is from a well known seller and I know the car that it came out of. In terms of provenance, it might not be as bad as you think
