LS2 Silver Blade Throttle Body
Discussion
Went to start my LS2 Monaro the other day and got nothing on the first attempt. Dead.
On the second attempt it roared into life as usual but I got the “Service Vehicle Soon” message on he dash.
I checked the codes and got P1632 and P2119.
I suspect that the throttle body is on its way out again. I replaced it once before about 10 years ago after the car randomly refused to start and when it did, it would often go into limp mode.
Anyway, I understand that OEM silver blade throttle bodies are as rare as hens teeth, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of the alternatives listed on Rock Auto?

Get an LS3 one (gold blade). Bolts straight on, plugs straight in, works fine. Worked fine on mine, worked fine on one around the corner from me about 2 weeks ago. He got his from MWP I believe. Has worked fine on others in the UK, and worked fine on plenty of them in the states.
The silver blade one is presumably unobtainium because GM don't make it because they don't need to, the LS3 one works. Presumably much like you can only get LS7 lifters from GM now, they don't make LS2 lifters any more.

Cheers Sturdy, good to know! Would make sense as to why they don’t make the LS2 version any more.
I’ve heard mixed reports about the use of LS3 throttle bodies on the LS2 generally, seems to be hit or miss.
I've not heard any misses from anyone that's actually tried it on our cars... Even stevieturbo on here, a particularly experienced and skeptical bloke, knows personally of a Monaro VXR with one on that works fine. Here is a thread of Americans who've actually tried it and all have worked without any issues.I’ve heard mixed reports about the use of LS3 throttle bodies on the LS2 generally, seems to be hit or miss.

Luis Sola said there were issues, but that was in a chat about the later ECU cars (VEs with the E38 ECU) so who knows, maybe there is some substance to the internet rumour. Someone did find a thread from 25 years ago where somebody put a different throttle body on their LS1 Corvette (back when the LS1 was new) and that throttle had a gold throttle blade and didn't work properly. Some say this is where the myth started

it was only used on a very small range of cars over a short period of time. Long time ago now, no point at all really still making parts for something that is obsolete.I’ve heard mixed reports about the use of LS3 throttle bodies on the LS2 generally, seems to be hit or miss.
Buy an OEM GM LS3 gold blade, more than likely it will work fine. Because the silver are simply unavailable, and anything second hand, or so called refurb...is a higher risk IMO
I imported one from here a couple of years ago and can't fault it https://www.solerengineering.com/generalmotors
Had all sorts of issues with throttle bodies in the past but this one fitted and worked first time.
