Monaro VXR Radio problem

My radio will not turn off. I did notice whilst driving the display isn't working. When I turned the engine off, the radio was still playing so I thought it would switch off when I locked it but no it carried on playing. Can anyone help before I have a flat battery?.

So, on the assumption that it's an aftermarket unit, it sounds like it's not hooked to the ignition switch correctly and that's why you're having the problem.
If it's the stock radio then I'd be pulling it out to investigate. Do you have any photos you can post to accompany the question?

You do know there is a dashboard option about when the ancilliaries are switched off. Can be on drivers door opening, or on ignition off. I'd start there, esp drivers door switch.

As far as I know this is a standard unit. It was working fine but has developed the problem.

Accessories turn off when drivers door is opened and the switch in the door piller is known to stick/stop working. Clean up the switch and make sure it's working or turn off the option in the dashboard settings

This. My Radio stayed on all night when I first bought mine, quick search about the buttons in the A pillars. Spray some wd or similar in there and press it in and out a few times. Should solve it

The door switch is working fine (It switches the interior light off). I think the problem must be linked to the fact the screen isn't working.

Where is the dashboard option for turning stuff off please , i can’t seem to find it

Turn the ignition on and a message comes up on the display between the dials; ‘For menu options press < >’

Go through this and you’ll find what you’re looking for

Cheers , never knew that one was there , my cd player standard fitment lights up on its own , it’s not turning on but just lights up , door connector seems fine , im removing it tomorrow see if I can work out why

An update on mine , one original cd player back light staying on so car battery issues , second spare original one lcd display is failing , read able but starting to fail , i always wanted to keep it original but have gone a bit more modern , there was a kit on line for 50 £ that links the steering controls to the new cd head unit , plus another company sells the double din surround 35 £ , i still like the look of the original unit , but the sound quality is better with the new unit , it’s built in bluetooth and I can plug my phone into it , the head unit was a Sony radio and cd player , 56 £ used via ebay , the same unit that I have in my other cars that I know works well
