Monaro engine warning light and MOTs
Discussion
As some of you may be aware, the recently introduced requirement for the MOT tester to view an engine MIL light during "key on" has caused some of us issues at MOT time.
Mainly because Monaros dont do this. This is as manufactured.
Clearly, this is a nonsense, and not a fair or resonable requirement to impose retrospectively. I have been in communication with DVSA who have now agreed to exempt this part of the test for monaros, and associated holden commodore variants for VY and VZ models..
Vehicle specific guidance will be issued in due course, but as we all know, not every MOT tester is going to know or remember this.
In the meantime, if you have any issues, i suggest you do as per their letter to me:
There was more correspondance, but posting it here is unecessary, other than , clearly, this does not mean you car will pass with an engine check light/warning on!! Its specifically the "key on" lamp test thats exempted. Nothing else

You're the man, Roger! And the Oscar goes to... !!!
Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to battle the authorities, which is always a huge struggle, even if you know beforehand that you are in the right.
There is no such "engine MIL light during key on" rule in place here in Austria (currently), but this will surely help a lot of Monaro owners in the UK avoid future MOT headaches!

As always, being right is a good start, but who you know is just as useful. As it was in this case.Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to battle the authorities, which is always a huge struggle, even if you know beforehand that you are in the right.
