Hi

Does anyone know how you reset the airbag light? on an 04 monaro, in fitting and re fitting the steering rack, i managed to break the ' clock spring'

have replaced it with a new one, but still have the warning light on! apparently an OBD 2 wont reset it..

Cheers Yoss.

What area are you in ? In case you are near me , I’m
Herts , or try a local dealer , any decent tech 2 should be able to reset it , another option is ( this which works on a scooby ) , disconnect the battery , pump brake pedal about 50 times , then a few hours later re connect the battery , it may work

You have a few options, a Tech 2 (or feasibly a good Snap-On type garage level multi function thing, although you might have to get them to go looking under Pontiac / Holden / Chevrolet to find something...) being the simplest.

Alternatively, there's a free bit of software you can download, but you'll also need to make up a cable. This needs about £10 worth of ebay bits and the ability to solder 2 wires, it's very simple.

If you're near Northampton / want to meet up somewhere I could do it for you.

There aren't any combinations of battery off key turn pedal presses to reset it, you need to send it the 'clear SRS codes' message.

Here is the thread detailing what SturdyHSV mentions regarding the software and the cable, it is finicky and use it at your own risk.
Having said that, I successfully cleared my airbag codes and turned the light off with it. which is more than a fancy Snap on device could do.

This bit of software also helped from memory, unfortunately it was 5 years or more ago, so it is all a bit vague now.

You can even change you cluster outputs with it if you so wish, never tried that myself though.

A tech 2 is invaluable for these early cv8-you dont even need the candi module
Good used ones are available for the 250 ish mark with the relevant gm card
nothing else out there seems to work properly-particularly for live data -helpful with abs
