Hi all,

Planning for some TLC for my VXR 500 over the winter - some advice please.

1. Does anyone know where I can purchase some replacement (griffin) centre wheel caps please?

I noticed this evening that 2 of mine have lost the Vauxhall logo. I 'think' I've spotted some stick-on replacements on eBay ... but, I'd rather replace with proper ones.

The other 2 are a bit scratched as well - so, looking for a set of 4.

2. I've also noted that there is no Vauxhall logo on the back of the car. Must have been removed before I got it - only just noticed after 10 years ownership! There is actually a 'V8' logo - but, looking at pictures on the internet, that isn't standard. (I actually spotted some pictures of the car from the 2008 Rallye du Paris - and the rear end included the Vauxhall sign - but no V8 sign). No indication that the car has ever been damaged so get the feeling it was an aesthetic change - anyone know where I can source one please as I want to go back to the original?

3. Finally, although I had the brake callipers painted a few years ago, the red paint is chipped again - any recommendations for getting them sorted on a more permanent basis?

(I'm based near Manchester).

Any help greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Ian

I got a genuine Vauxhall rear badge from that of an Astra mk5 for mine.
Its proportions are just fine, I don't know how it compares to the original though.

Regarding the centre caps, when I refurbished my first Monaro wheels several years ago I fitted Insignia centre caps.
They fitted perfectly and IMO contrasted nicely against my silver sparkle wheels.
They don't sit flat against the wheel they dome out a bit, but I thought it looked perfectly OEM, nobody ever commented on them either and they usually do when something looks odd!
I also binned my flaking chrome wheel nut caps for some gunmetal grey Astra J ones.

They look great - thank you for the reply.

I'll get a set ordered,

Best

Regarding the calipers, its easy enough to refurbish the paint yourself. The picture above ^^^ with the centre caps is with my freshly repainted calipers.
Take them off, rub down as req'd, clean and mask, spray with your choice of paints then get some fresh decals.
Otherwise, there's firms like Biggred that can do it for you in a choice of different finishes and durability.

Here's mine been done at home (my first Monaro that is).

Now the financial leach of an (ex) wife is no more, all this stuff is back on the radar. Need to buy my vtr1000 SP2 exhausts first.
