Hello all.

First and foremost I am a long term lurker of PH having been through a few cars (Mondeo ST, Octavia vRS, RX8, 350z to name a few) but never got to signing up.

After months of deliberation over M5s, XFRs, RS4s etc. I decided to take the plunge at buying a VXR8 at the weekend after having chickened out around 8 years ago and buying a 350z instead.

I have seen the support that goes on in here and also figured I'm going to need some help at some point, especially after I coasted it onto the driveway and still the first thing the missus said when I came through the door was ... "that's a bit loud". laugh

First task for me will be fixing the aerial base so she can listen to something other than the exhaust note rolleyes

Pic to boot.

Welcome. That's a great photo!

The radio reception on these cars is always a bit poor, but i'm sure the wife will come around soon! biggrin

Welcome wavey

Find / buy 6 of her favourite CDs and stick them in the changer scratchchin Then you can just turn the radio off whilst you drive it, and she just needs to turn it on for instant tunes.

You have made a wise choice fellow ozy muscle owner. Your not going to be disappointed. I’ve had mine just under 2 months and every time I look at it I feel happy inside. clap

I had my worst day of ownership yesterday boohoo!

After some rare circumstances I let my brother have my sting red beauty for a few hours and low and behold someone run into the back of him hurlrage doesn’t even begin to explain the emotions involved. Damage doesn’t look too bad. Basically the full rear bumper has come away from its mounts and shifted away from the rear lights and all the sensors have popped out. No damage to any metal parts that I can see. Fingers crossed it’s an easy fix through the insurance already started the claim and my brother is a named driver and the other guy took full responsibility.
It was Kia thing that don’t the damage and suffered a broken registration plate. Sometimes life isn’t fair. But could’ve been worse and I still have the Monaro to drive biggrin

I would have a look under the car and make sure nothing is cracked or bent. Also lift the carpet and check the boot floor. Make sure the bool lid opens and closes properly, and it’s lined up correctly.
Hopefully all will be in order and you won’t need any hard to get parts.

I know how you feel mind.
About 11 years ago I parked my car in supermarket car park ( I was on holiday) and the classic old lady drove into the car park, passed loads of empty spaces and as she passed my car, she hit my rear bumper and ran along it’s full length mad
Quite how anyone can do that is a mystery rolleyes
Anyway it was thankfully just a respray and a new plastic lower in fill panel and all was well….other than my blood pressure yikes

I hope the bumper wasn't to badly damaged.
I broke my rear bumper a few years ago and the repair bill was vver £3,000. Getting hold of a new bumper will be a problem as well.

Sorry, I forgot to say check to see that you can remove the spare wheel, if the floor was buckled in some way the wheel might be jammed in.
That should finish all the checks you can reasonably do…now relax smile

Thanks all for the advise and welcome. Mostly looks straight and decent.

Tiny spot of rust on the front right wing, couple stone chips and the aerial look like the only bits I need to touch up at the moment.

Was looking at the whole head unit swap but having just brought it not feeling the most flush with cash so maybe later.

I owe you an apology TikTak I feel like I’ve wasted your welcome to ozy muscle post. Sorry soapbox I did want to congratulate you on getting an awesome car. but then I hit a bit of a rant. For what it’s worth your new cars FAR better than my courtesy car. Which is saying something because the courtesy cars a not too shabby c300 merc coupe. I know what I’d rather be driving though smokin
hope your enjoying your new machine thumbup
