Been a while since I’ve posted here, looking for GM part number for the threaded adapter that screws into the oil filter, local garage is expressing concern that the filter is a loose fit. I’ve come up with 12600225

I’ve spoken to Brett speed4u about a spare, he advises there were two variants of the filter on early and later Monaros, he seems to think 12600225 is later, earlier had a smaller thread, can anyone confirm two different oil filter part numbers?

TIA

In otherwords they are using the wrong filter.

get the correct filter and it will not be a loose fit. Just measure the threaded fitting.

Have a word with AAS Newcastle. They stock filters for our cars. From what I can tell there are two different filters to choose from.

I believe the LS2 monaro filter uses a smaller thread than the LS2 VXR8 so maybe you have a VXR8 filter

Monaro = acdelco pf46
Vxr8. = acdelco pf48

Doesn't make it right.

If it's loose, it's wrong.

Older stuff is the old imperial 13/16 thread, same as old MG's, Rover K series etc and some of those filters fit fine.

Newer changed to M22 I believe. So easy to measure the nipple and see what is needed.

13/16" is about 20.6mm.

If oil filter doesn't fit, it's the wrong oil filter

Unless someone has fitted a wrong nipple at some point...but again, even so all it needs is the correct oil filter for it.

I agree Steve. I suspect the answer is above, but always nice to have it confirmed, especially as it can stop future owners of such a tiny number of cars coming unstuck.

Again, safest way is measure the thread. Just in case there are some oddities and crossovers.
