My 04 monaro cv8 has had front and rear brakes uprated to an AP kit
it currently has 19" later model wheels with 245/45/19

Does anybody know if the standard cv8 rims will fit over the aps-or is it a no go?

I'm pretty sure they will.
Seen plenty of CV8's for sale over the years with the APs fitted and standard wheels.

many thanks for that

dont suppose anybody has dimensions-or indeed the spacers needed to centre the 360mm range rover discs on the hub....never knew they would fit....
I have a little feedback from one[i think] of my front brake discs.only at slow speeds or just light braking-heavy braking stands it on its nose
looking at the price of range rover discs far more cost effective to use them as replacements
all the pistons in the calipers are as free as a bird and the pads are all also free to move

I was thinking of getting all the 4 discs skimmed but as the car will be used very little over winter no point in doing this now as they will have surface rust again by spring

This has been asked before and I'm sure there was no 'answer' as such.
Should be easy enough to work out though?
Compare centre bore of the RR in question to the CB of the Monaro.
Then just use the standard width of the discs your using (at the CB) and a machine shop should be able to make up a metal bush/spigot ring adaptor for you.

Is this the answer?...

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

IMO the 3mm shims and stud adaptors he talks of aren't required.

I need to have a chat with my mechanic. I hadn’t long had my cv8 alloys recon’d when I ended up getting my ap racing brakes fitted. Apparently there was no way in hell they wheels were fitting over the new brakes. Never got my original wheels back either

Many years ago, when Monaros were new on our roads, this forum was one of Pistonhead's highest post count for many years. The subject of whether CV8 wheels fitted over the AP brake upgrade was covered and discussed extensively.
They fit, very close clearance but they fit.

I have AP brakes fitted to my VZ face lift Monaro. The car still has its original 18 inch alloys.
On this model the mounting bolts are a different size and the AP’s had to be drilled out for the bolts to fit.
There is only about 2 mm clearance from the front calliper’s to the inner part of the wheel, but it works fine. You just have to careful if you remove or fit the wheel or you will chip the nice red paint on the caliper.
You also need to get the wheels balanced in such away the the stick on lead weights do not hit the caliper.
I made sure my wheels were balance with the weights attached next to the wheel spokes and also the inner edge of the wheel.
You will also need a yellow coloured VXR space saver as an emergency spare.
The black coloured CV8 spare won’t fit on the front or even the rear wheels on my car.

I hope that helps.

I remember folk saying the yellow space saver spare would go over the rear AP's.
So, in extremis, if there was a front puncture, you'd take a good rear wheel off and fit to the front. Then put the yellow spare onto the rear.

That is correct.

Ain’t that the truth, happy days talking excitedly about how to make our cars faster. Dodgy mechanics, blown engines etc…..or was that just me? smile

I wonder what happened to all the old regulars on here?
I guess they all went onto Facebook and then eventually got tired of their cars and moved them on.
It was good while it lasted, especially when Monkfish regularly kept us all on the right track when we got stuck.
Happy days really, especially when you look at the state of the world now.
Anyway despite everything you’ve got to stay positive….long live the Muscle car and a great bunch of like minded petrolheads.
Wormus, you’re not the only one that’s spent way too much….even I’ve had to hide my receipts biglaugh

as above , shame things were not how they were before , going to the Fish with both my cars was a tradition , always involving a cooked breakfast on the way , the Fish had to remove a small bit of AP calliper material when they fitted them , as it would not fit under the standard cv8 alloys , 12k spent on the monaro in all, not all of it by me , the spending now is mainly servicing it ,but still have it over 10 years later , still have the maloo , added a Gtr to the fold which does a great job of making every thing else seem a lot lot slower , but still get a lot of fun driving the v8’s as they are both unique and often noisy

There might be a slight difference in clearance between the 04CV8 wheels and 05CV8 wheels?
That's the first I've heard of the caliper needing to be shaven.

one side cleared , the other side at the front a slight rub , only by mm , so a bit of caliper was removed , no sign of any defects in the wheel convened

I wasn't around for the full on early days (have had mine ~12 years) but was obviously here for the ever present BBQ thread hehe

There's a lot of people on facebook, a few of the old guard still have their cars but there's plenty of 'new' owners, and to be honest the modifying is a lot more serious now, it seems there's barely a VXR8 left without a cam in it (bigger than the Walky / MF 'wild' ones) hehe

It's a nuisance really as I only have facebook for the Holden related events / advice / social side, I'd love to just get rid of it entirely but it's where a lot of owners are now.
