Just wondering what kind of economy you get from your cars?

I am still hankering after one of these - my current daily is a V8 e60 - gives me around 22mpg around the doors and thirty ish on the motorway.

Do you have to run these on super? Apparently BMW state mine will run on the regular stuff but I would sooner err on the side of caution and use momentum or V power.

Depends how heavy your right foot is but I suspect it’ll be similar to your BMW.

For example, I’ve had my Monaro for 10 years and averaged 23mpg.
About 10-15mpg around town and 25-30mpg on a run.

They run just fine on regular unleaded in standard form. Tuned examples might require higher octane fuel.

That said, if you like the refinement of your BMW, I’d say fuel consumption is the least of your worries hehe

If you’re talking about a Monaro, the official fuel consumption out of the brochure is as follows, town/ urban 12.4 mpg, extra urban 25.7 mpg, combined 18.5 mpg.

When my car was in regular use I was getting 12 mpg in heavy traffic yikes However on a gentle 20 mile drive to and from work was around 18 mpg on a dual carriageway.
On long runs I was getting 26 to 30mpg if I took it easy.

On empty back roads it was single figures, usually when my brothers Mustang filled my rear view mirror laugh

My 13 year's experience of a 2009 manual LS3 6.2 means driving in central London earns about 11 mpg (driven gently and skipping gears) and even at an inicated 75 mph on cruise control on a motorway you won't better 23-25 mpg.
It's old fashioned but sounds great.....

Mines a 2016 wagon with the 6.2 LS3 and 6AT - gentle urban pootling is about 15mpg, gentle 70mph motorway run gets about 28-30mpg, booting it makes lots of noise and invokes much hilarity and something less than 15mpg…

I find my 5.7 really rather good on fuel, relatively. Normal driving for me, its always returning 20+ and on a motorway run it will exceed 30mpg.
Much much better than my old Mustang derived 4.6 v8 in a ZT260, that car had a truly shocking drink problem.

Dailying the wagon (6 litre, 6L80 auto) it's around 21-23mpg, dialing the Ute (5.7, 4L60E auto) is about the same, 21 ish, the Monaro was better, but is now probably 17-18 ish but it's now a crammed 6.6 litre so understandable.

They're good on a cruise, it's stop start that really kills the economy.

This is about the same as my 5.7 has managed over 12 years and 30k .. single figure overall mpg has been seen but only during very spirited driving.

when mine was remapped with the charger etc fitted i am told it got smoother[lots] and was far,far better on fuelwhen cruising, not if you gave it stick though -i dont find it terribly bad tbh-no worse than rs4 or s4[greedy pig of a car for 3.0 but a quick old thing]

monaro n/a , focus pack so an extra 100 bhp and a 3.9 diff , 19 mpg is normal as i’m not trying to drive economically 27 to 29 not trying to be carful at 70 mph , the best so far was just over 35 mpg by being very careful , a very long run from north london to scotland , the mpg in the car would not go past 29. ? mpg , but full tank to full tank and a speedo that under reads ( so i have to be more careful when there’s speed cameras around ) then a very good mpg return and very comfortable too

Why does it under read? Have you not had the speedo calibrated for the 3.9 diff?

Not had my Facelift CV8 long, but on my first long trip from Herts to Shropshire it averaged 31mpg thanks to some 60mpg contraflow on the M1

The whole trip there and back including some town driving (while site seeing) was 28mpg

This is a fairly standard car with just a Stage 1 Wortec map

the speedo was recalibrated by the fish , but when you look at the speedo v sat nav actual speed , the speedo reads 1 to 2 mph more , so less lee way near cameras , 30 40 50 no relevant difference but motorway i set the cruise to 69 rather than 70 , some police forces ie essex have reported people for 1 mph over on speed , which is harsh putting a mild point on it

The police allow a 10% +2 mph on all speed limits so I wouldn’t worry too much.
The various speed cameras will be set with these margins.
A good old fashioned traffic cop would not even bother looking at anything less.

Also, that seems like it is calibrated correctly. It over reads, not under reads by 1-2 mph, same as my Ro.

Over a 200 mile steady drive, 2008 6.0 manual. You can just about see the fuel gauge, used about half a tank. Usually averages about 15mpg but I only drive around town mostly.

I had an auto before and only managed 27mpg in that.

I run an Astra VXR as my daily and only average 28mpg on a motorway cruise.
This is clear evidence another V8 would be more economical. I shall inform the wife.

I think I'm in the 16-18 ballpark, but honestly stopped looking a week after I got the car, I'd had a bit of fun with TC turned off, and it had climbed into double figures.

I wasn't expecting over 20, it doesn't go on the motorway, but my commute is 6 miles each way maybe twice a week and weekend use is limited to zero; even with a small tank and dire economy, I still only need to fill up every 6 weeks or so.
