Hi all, I'm after a new water pump for my Monaro LS2 and looking for the AC delco part number, but I'm having no luck. Can anyone provide this? Walkinshaws don't have any in stock at the mo, so I'm looking elsewhere (I'd refer OE if poss).

Any other tips on replacing the pump would also be appreciated. Cheers!

That could cover some LS1 and 2 models, although I'd class it as LS1/6

I consider the LS2 pump to have the shorter more squared off pulley ( as it runs a belt routing closer to the engine )

The two pumps also use different thermostats and housings. Ideally get a pump complete with stat and housing as OEM's do.

But the big bell pump like that should cover both variations if there is room up front.

Exactly what pump does the OP have ? any pics ?

LS2 Monaro, I got the Gates one, works fine although the box looked like it'd been kicked for a field goal hehe

Can go AC Delco if you want, or buy 2 of the Gates ones and have a spare and £40 for all the coolant you'll lose swapping it... hehe

Thanks for the info guys, 251744 seems to be the consensus. I was only thinking AC delco as they were OE, but it's good to know there are alternatives.

All I can offer is my gates one has done about 600 miles and no heating issues at all. As I do more miles I'll know how it gets on!

You may as well buy a new thermostat while you're in there, you'll need to swap the little housing over. The thermostat housing gasket wasn't great for me, so I used some RTV to make sure it was sealed as the little bolts for the housing don't like much torque.

Hi James. I was going to change the stat too, but that’s good to know about the gasket sealant.

Did you put it on the pump gaskets as well as the stat housing?

OEM pump usually comes with a new stat ( ie. GM pump )

Stat gasket is a rubber ring, usually pretty good. Sealant just makes a mess.
