Noise detection speed camera trial

I think we’ll be ok. They will have to be well signed I think, like speed cameras .
Why?The whole idea is to catch those tts who are ruining the peace and quiet for everyone.
Back off the throttle until you pass the noise detector, then return to being a tt immediately afterwards?

And fines are not the answer, they need to copy California, and if caught with an illegal exhaust they get issued a fix it ticket. The idea being that it's a greater deterrent if you have to put your exhaust system back to stock and have it checked by the police, not a bent emissions inspector. If it's been fixed then the ticket is torn up. No bleating that it's just another way to make money as there are no fines if it's fixed.

if a car passes an MOT, it surely cant be fined for noise
The noise check for the MOT simply states"Exhaust noise from the vehicle must not be unreasonably above the noise level normally expected from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition."
No actual measurements made, just the testers interpretation, so if it's been tested by a corrupt tester who feigned deafness, yes you can still be fined.

That never happens with speed cameras, does it ? They actually tell you to do this on trackdays. I'd be genuinely shocked if ANY car is under 74 db at 70 mph, even electric. Tires are at least 74 db.
I Live near an airport, so there probably wont be any in my locality anyhow.

If you just deny the offence though how on earth can they prove it? Surely this just relies on fools fessing up every time a ticket arrives.
TX.
As with most motoring laws, they twist everything so you are guilty, unless you can prove otherwise. Which often is either extremely expensive, or nigh on impossible.TX.
Almost all motoring laws are guilty until prove innocent. And all the cops etc have to do is make an allegation against you, often they require no real proper evidence, and they have the full might of the legal pricks behind them to make your life a misery, whereas you have to pay for your entire defense yourself ( and even worse....your taxes pay for your prosecution )

This is why tickets are not the answer, but informing the owner that the car has to be bought into the local police station to check the exhaust would work.TX.

Police haven't got the first notion either, so that would be pointless. And there is still not testing standard in place for this.stevieturbo said:

And all you have to do is buy a db meter and have the officer use it. Not too complicated and the result would be pass or fail and only take a minute or two.
Watching the video you link to in your bio, that Granada would be a fail without question if it was driven on the public roads.
