Seeking help please on replacement petrol cap flipper release cable. This is operated from a lever in driver's side footwell and enabkles access to petrol filler cap. Car is Monaro CV8 small boot model. Cable has apparently 'stretched' and is not fully operating said flipper thingy. Any thoughts or work arounds greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I recall seeing something about a spring on the end of the cable at the flap end getting stuck or falling apart which makes the cable go slack. Also it can pop out of the retaining clip at the pull handle end.
Both things were discused on the facebook page but its difficult to find the threads again.

Try the search function, it can work. For example:

if you have the cable out etc...

www.speedycables.co.uk can make most things, or likely supply parts.

Hi Guys and thanks for all your suggestions. A mechanic friend of mine undid the filler cap end, pulled back the boot trim adjacent to it and worked copious amounts of wd40 into the cabling. It worked! Had similar problems with his Audi apparently.

I've got to take the fuel tank out to upgrade my fuel pump so I'll likely do this while I'm in there as some preventative maintenance, appreciate the update to the thread smile
