Underside Tarting & Refreshing
Discussion
As I'm currently having my AP's completely refurbished (in AP Yellow...sorry James ), I thought I'd take the opportunity to get under the old girl and give certain areas a bit of a refresh whilst I have a ramp to play with.
So I have cleaned all of the arches out, re-stone chipped them, then gloss blacked them over the stone chip. The car was Dinitrol'd some time ago but needed a refresh, especially on the front subframe, which was a bit rusty but zero rot, just surface stuff. So I wired wheeled the problem areas and masked them off and stone chipped them. I also took the metal engine undertray off and wired wheeled it and primed it up, ready for painting.
Next job is some very minor paint chip touch ins, wet flat and compound and polish. All of the panels were wet flatted and refinished about 3 years ago (took me about 6-months to do properly!!) so there is only minor compounding and polishing and seal to do in a few areas. One of the benefits of working in a garage with crappy old fluorescent luminaires, is terrible colour rendering, which is perfect for showing up and paint defects, so a detailers dream!!
All being well I will sort that, polish up the back sections of the exhaust too (Belgom Alu is the best metal polish in the world if you need a good one) and probably will Tardis them to get all of the tar spots that have welded themselves to the exhaust over the years before polishing!
Here's a few pics of the work.

And I repainted the rear arch liners whilst I was at it....
